So the fill nipple on my tank digs into my wrist when screwed in.

It's currently empty and I loosened the set screws for the top piece and loosened it off a touch and re tightened it.

It feels tight and I assume no air would leak out.

Is this safe to do?

I'm going to say no. It would also change your output pressure.

Replace it with the pro version of the Ninja reg if you can. That will allow you to swivel the fill nipple location.

Don't do this.
Additionally ninja makes a split washer that sits behind the threads on the tank for just this reason. Takes you out like a quarter turn.

The cheap and dirty solution is to put an o ring in the ASA. That way the tank doesn't screw in quite all the way. As long as the pin valve is being pressed to get air into the marker you are still good.

Bonnet holds the shims and bevel washers/spring pack in place at a given dimension.

Unscrewing that tampers with the spacing. Thusly changing output pressure in some way.

Burst disc has different thread size.

Nope. One is NPT threaded and the other is either UNF or UNC. The threads won't seal properly.
