So today I took my empire sniper an my Gtek out. Sized the paint and used a .684 insert for both on my Deadlywinds 18in Fibur-x barrel. At first the Gtek was shooting really hot but got it and the empire both down to around 275 ish for the field requirements of 280. Ended up noticing that the Gtek was far less consistent in accuracy vs the sniper which seemed to keep a tighter grouping. While I expect the autococker pump to be more accurate, I didn't expect the Gtek to be having ball veer off to a side. as far as I'm aware up until the last game of the day, neither broke any paint so barrel was pretty clean. Suggestions? does that drastic change seem right?

Ah, the old open bolt vs closed bolt debate resumes!
What pressure were you running on each?
What did you use to clean the barrel?
How hot was the paint throughout the day?
Any breaks?
My guess? The paint changed with temperature. If not that, my old theories on the settling time in the breech prior to the shot with a closed bolt vs open lead down a speculative path. And if nothing else is fruitful, blame operating pressure and call it a day like it's the late 90s.
Edit: yeah... detents. Always forget they exist.Feedback

no breaks till the end of the day,
Detents checked, both are in place and seem in good condition.
Paint was kept under shade all day in 70-80 degree weather Accuracy issue cropped up rather quickly, well before any breaks. granted its not the best paint either but the Sniper shot it way better. Barrel was brand new, fisrst day out today. cleaning it with hot water at the moment.
Edit: both had reg HPA tanks on them that should be running 800 psiLast edited by Vegabond; 08-19-2023, 11:02 PM.

Im just gonna say it. In my expierence, you are just noticing the poor shot quality of a gamma core.
I dont get why they are the hot shit in paintball. Sure they are idiot proof, but gamma core guns dont shoot nearly as well as older egos and or geos.
But your expierence aligs with mine in the fact that my 160r had poor consistency shot to shot.

Ok so your detents are good. When is the last time you cleaned and serviced your Gtek? Wipe your internals clean and lightly grease them. You want just enough to make them look wet. Too much and it will cause consistency issue. If that doesn’t do it clean the reg. A properly operating Gtek should shoot the same as any other marker under the same conditions. My Emek shots the same as my CS, Phantom, Cocker given the same conditions. They may aim different especially the Phantom but one isn’t anymore accurate than the other. However I’m more accurate with particular setups. It’s got nothing to do with the marker tho.
It could need an inner can oring. I fit them like what you had to do with the older DM markers. My buddy’s M170R was not shooting as good as the other 12 PE markers on the team. But after fitting orings on it it picked up efficiency and consistency. I do this with all the spool valve markers I tec. Makes a noticeable difference. The same size oring are all a lil bit different some fit better than others. I would start there if a good cleaning don’t do the trick. Try swapping out the orings in the inside of the can and outside the bolt. Also if you are using any of the colored orings get rid of them and get yourself a standard black bunna kit from PE or the likes. Those color coded orings while convenient or junk.
