    Question for the MCB Brain Trust: When aired up, especially with co2, the hard line on my Phantom flexes harder than a body builder at Mr. Olympia. Said hard line even blew out of the fittings one time. It doesn't flex when not aired up, and I've followed the installation instructions. Left pic is with no gas, right pic is aired up.

    Possible Explanations I've Been Given:
    • Hard line tube is too long. It was ordered direct from Extreme Velocity.
    • Fittings need to be re-aligned
    What I've Tried:
    • Re-installed fittings
    • Making sure the nuts that connect the hard line tube aren't over-tightened
    I've seen a similar issue with another Phantom at my local field, owner says it came like that from the factory. Any help is appreciated!

      It looks like the ASA side is too long and someone arched the horizontal side going into the valve. Most likely the excess material is on the ASA side and needs to be trimmed down. These are real simple fittings and are pretty forgiving so once you fix the length issue is should work fine.
      • take out the hardline from the fittings and take off the rubber ferrule off.
      • leave the fittings in place
      • straighten out the horizontal side of the tube (looks like it has been curved) this type of fitting is very sensitive to any side pressure on the tubing when it passes through the ferrule you want the tube to go straight through the ferrule
      • hold up the hard line to the fittings centered as it it was being installed and figure out where it needs to be to enter the fittings square on.
      • mark any excess on both ends of the tubing
      • if enough room to use a tubing cutter use that to cut off excess but I doubt there is enough material to fully support the cutter.
      • if not enough room I find using a grinder/grinding wheel to abrade away the tubing works well
      • take off less then more and keep test fitting until it sits in there nicely
      • once you have a nice fit make sure you de-burr the ends and ream out the ID
      • inspect your ferrules they may have been damaged if previous assembler did not de-burr before assembly
      • reassemble the fittings. (lube the tube before you insert into the ferrule; spit works fine)

        Remove the hard line nuts adjust the inner grommets place the hard line how it is supposed to be and tighten down the nuts. The nut loosened up on you and the pressure made the line back out.

        Providing the first picture is of the same hard line. It’s just not installed properly.

          Keep an eye on the grommets as you tighten them. If you over tighten them, they’ll push out from around the nut and that will push the hardline off center

          Had some time to mess with it and got everything tightened and aligned. Still had a little flexing but not as much. Is some flexing normal with hard lines just because of the pressure? Thanks again for the feedback

          Could be the fittings are not alined perfectly. Or it could just be bent weirdly. But if it alined properly at one point it should go back. Unless it was damaged as a result of not being tightened. But I doubt that would happen you could try replacing the grommets but I think if you play with it enough you will get it ware it needs to be.

        I had this issue many years ago with the hardline being bent poorly and leaking at the bend. Mike sent me out a new hardline and elbows the day I mentioned it to him. Sad to see legendary customer service like that go away.
