    Air tank fill???

    Hey all, was wondering how long do your tanks hold air when you fill them.

    I filled 4 tanks at a scuba shop on a Saturday so I could tech some markers. Did not get to them that Saturday. Following Saturday I get around to them.

    3 of the 4 pretty much empty. The other half filled. Meanwhile I by a tank off ebay 3 was ago. Its shipped to me full and not lost any air.

    Does this mean regs need rebuild or how some are?

    Should be indefinitely.

    You likely have a small leak some where

      Something's come loose. Just like a dripping faucet, the leak can be tiny enough that you can't hear it, but it will drain your tank given enough time.

      Hold the whole tank upside down and stick the regulator into a glass of water. Use something big enough so you can get the whole reg under. You should see bubbles coming from somewhere, like the gauge or fill nipple. That's your problem.

      The good news is that most of the time the part isn't even bad. It's just the sealant that failed. You can probably remove the part, clean it up, reseal it with Teflon or Loktite, then reinstall it again.

      Just don't forget to completely drain the tank first.

        They shipped your new tank pressurized? I thought the post office frowned on that. Maybe UPS ground?

        Not new or from store. It was used peanut tank that expired. Got it very cheap. The guy shipped it full and not very good packing.

        usually I would not leave bad feedback, neutral at worse.

            It's possible but leaks are typically one of the fittings fill nipple gauge or burst disk. I would start by checking with those

            Also just a side note if you are filling your tanks and need that much air at home you might want to consider getting a SCUBA tank since you're going to a scuba shop to fill anyway. The initial setup can be usually around the price of a good HPA tank but the ongoing costs are much less. Before I had mine I was paying six or seven dollars to fill each of my hpa tanks. Now I pay $8 to fill the scuba and for my uses it usually lasts me about 4 months

            I think you are confusing what's legal and what people actually do they are two different things. I'm quite sure USPS and UPS both have rules at a minimum if not laws against shipping full tanks but at least USPS cannot look inside of your package without a damn good reason or a warrant

              I also use a scuba tank. Works well, get a fill twice a year. Makes teching a marker way easier. Usualy just use a 13/3000 for tech so if I lose a tank full of air no bid deal.

            You can try just replacing the fill nipple o ring. It likely needs new orings in the reg to.

                Try pulling the reg apart put in new Orings in it and give it a good cleaning. myth regs we’re not known to be the best or the most reliable.

                    80cf 3000psi is the most common.

                    I have 2 80/3000psi and 1 80/3300psi. Eventually I want to set up a cascade fill rig but it's not a priority right now

                    I'll get a picture of my setup but I just leave one of my paintball tracks hanging from the fill adaptor and then run a remote line with a slide check from the PB tank. When the paintball tank starts getting empty I just reach over and crack open the scuba. I always make sure to turn off the scuba though in case I have any leaks after I'm done. That way I'll only lose the air in my paintball tank not the scuba. But I also know my stuff is air tight because I've come out to my setup to find I forgot to do that, the scuba is open to the PB tank and that is open to the remote line and everything is still sitting at pressure after a full week. Also doing it this way I don't have to bleed the fill adaptor in between fills of the PB tank so I don't lose that air either (it's not a lot though)

                      Cdn_Cuda, Trbo323, what did your scuba tank cost? What did the rig on top of the tank cost. I'd assume buying a rental tank (i.e. a used one) from a scuba shop would be cheaper than a new tank.

                        The tank is used. I had an older one, but tanks pre- 90s are too old and shops don’t like them. Don’t remember the cost, but think it was under 200 CAD. I think I bought it on Facebook marketplace. They have a 5 year hydro and each year needs a visual inspection. The paintball adapters are $50-$100 new.

                      I actually got really lucky with all three of my tanks so I wouldn't say my prices are normal.

                      All three were out of hydro when I got them so I did have to put a good hydro on them but the first one was $20 at a random garage sale and the other two I actually traded Super Nova for. I don't remember what I traded him though it wasn't anything super expensive I do know that. So the gist of it is I got lucky in a garage sale and super nova is a nice guy

                      Check your local Craigslist first. Look for any tank that has a 3al stamp on it that's the same certification that we use for aluminum paintball tanks and means the same thing the tank is good until it no longer passes hydro. 5-year test cycle

                      Hydro cost me $50 and the tank comes back full I forget what visual inspection cost I think it's around 30 and roughly every 3 years

                      The adapter is called a paintball scuba fill adapter usually they are around $60 and don't bother with some name brand one they're just a chunk of aluminum as long as it has a gauge a bleed valve and a quick disconnect you're pretty much set

                        I got all those tanks from a family friend so got the family discount, I think they were 30-35 each and came filled even though they were expired.
