I know that you should degas before adjustment on moving base regulators (PE, Dye, Azodin, etc) but is the same true for floating poppet regs (Automag, AA, ANS, PPS etc)?
Degassing Before Reg Adjustment?

What's the thought behind degassing before adjusting? Less wear and tear on components? I've never heard of doing that so I'm genuinely curious. -
Yeah. For certain regs with very soft seats (looking at you Azodin) adjusting while pressurized can tear them up. Especially those where the seat is attached to the adjustment screw, making the seat spin against the piston during adjustment. (For example, PE regs do this and the CP regs do not do this) That doesn't stop anyone from doing it though.
As for if it's necessary on poppet based regs? I don't believe so.Comment

Hmm.. I have 2x violent series sl3 regs, both cut the piston seat to eff. Just ordered new seats, and saw this.. haha, I've always adjusted under pressure. Guess I won't after I replace the seals.Comment

And one more reason why I like cp.
To answer the original question though no, the worst case is you spin the whole piston which I certainly don't see any problem with

Is this just for an external hpr and not something integrated like modern Eclipse markers, or would the same logic apply? Because I've adjusted Emek or whatever other Eclipse gun while gassed up but then sometimes I will degass between adjustmentsComment
