    Harbor freight orings

In need of some orings, primarily for macro fittings. I had read somewhere about people having decent luck with HF orings, so since I loathe buying things like this online, figured I’d pick a pack up. Now my questions which material should I grab(Viton, nitrile, HNBR?).

    thanks

I've had bad experiences with chinesium o rings. In my case they had a seam running around the exterior, you know, that surface that's the most critical for sealing.

I had bad luck with them even being the actual size. They always seemed to be slightly smaller/thinner than actual spec. In many cases they worked fine and other cases they didn’t.

I've used the orings that came in a clear container with partitions and had the same experience as Trbo. The oring cross section was also oblong instead of round.

I bought another kit that came in a coloured box where small orings sit on pins on the lid and nestle into the centres of the big orings on the bottom and those orings were good. I bought this kit from a hydraulic store but HF/PA sell a kit in the same box so those orings might be good. Just be aware if you only plan to use this for paintball that you'll get a bunch of orings that you'll never use.

Nitrile is a good all round material because it's cheap and solvent resistant. I personally wouldn't bother with the other materials unless they're called for specifically.

          .
That's funny because mine came in the same box but were absolute garbage.

I order everything through theoringstore.com these days. Great guys with a paintball background who really know their stuff. Their rings are great quality, I've never had a problem with anything QC related. They even helped me track down some rings that were a weird European spec

I also can say cheap oring kits can be more hassle than they’re worth. Check a local hydraulic or hose shop for a decent kit, or from theoringstore.com. Prices are good, get what you need instead of buying waste, helpful and they toss in some salt water taffy. I don’t know any brick and mortar stores that sell orings individually based off size.

Inflation is why we can’t have nice things. Times are tough if they quit supplying taffy. It’s been a year since I’ve ordered from them
