    Market dip in the winter?

The used market definitely seems down, there is some good deals to be had! Do you think it is just naturally down during the off season or is it an economic reason or general decrease in paintball interest?

Good question , seems really slow on markers and parts. Hope this changes.

I think it's natural. People spent a bunch of money over the holidays, aren't playing as much and haven't received tax refund money yet. Feels about par for the course to me.

I think it’s a bit of both. Once tax season hits, the market will bounce back a bit, but I think the market has slowed overall

Typical but you might not see as much of a rebound this year in the used market. I make damn good money but I am feeling the pinch of the cost of living as I prepare for retirement so I now I have less disposable income to splurge on paintball right now (or any of my other hobbies). Hell I can not remember the last time I bought any amount of beef for the freezer in the last 6 months. Some costs are just way too high to "waste" money on paintball. Right now I think my paintball money will be concentrated on actually playing for a while.

Prices are way down this year. They tend to trend back up as spring hits and people in colder climates start to play again. They peak in summer normally and then the World Cup dump hits in late September through Nov when people need fast cash to play and sell off stuff cheap. You see great deals on Black Friday and things stay lower until spring again. It's all cyclic. But the prices right now are lower than I can remember for a while. Except for G6R's. They are like printing money with 2k11's going for $5-600 and 2k12's going for 700+. It's crazy.

If you are going to buy anything this year, right now is the time. If you're selling and can hold on, I would wait until prices trend upwards.

Typical of the seasons.... But this year particular has been miserable. I flagged a few things in my intake list as "do not accept" for the first time in a few years.

THe most shocking flagged items were Sheridans and Palmer's followed by first gen modern sp shockers. The amp further killed those.

I've find it slow, but prices haven't been cheap. A lot of gear posted is stupid expensive $600+ plus (CAD) Empire Snipers etc. But I think it's more like Jordan says, people cashing out and looking to get as much money as possible due to how expensive everything is. I did manage to sell my Pimp in 24 hours for more than I thought though, but that's likely a outlier to the general market.

I don't know if that's an outlier. Some people pay stupid money for a functioning Intimidator that you can't get new parts for anymore.

I agree with your price statement though. I get that there are people that know what they have, but when used CCMs are still $1,000USD I don't believe that prices have dropped off as much as people say. In the cocker market? Sure, but the Trilogy (previously the cheapest cockers) went the reverse direction with the Lazarus valve being released. Tippmanns & STBBs are all that really dropped off in their overall categories, at least from what I've seen.

Yeah I have to agree with the consensus, it's cyclic, this is the worst time of the year right before the playing season really starts but also this year seems particularly bad.

I sold 2 markers over the weekend (to the same person)which makes the total number I've sold in the last about 5 months, 3. The other one was a piranha LB to you guys so that doesn't really matter when I list for that one.

The latest Smart Parts, Field One and DYE offerings haven't really gotten people excited and PE's incremental improvements are getting harder and harder to notice, so top-driven gun churn has gone down. Fashionistas aren't putting their guns from last year on the market in order to by an ERA so there's just less gun-swapping going on.

Also, prices of everything got stupid, so people are actually holding on to their current guns instead of buying something new just to get that new-to-me feeling. Money just hurts too much and the last generations of guns worked too well to convince people that they can get a performance upgrade.

In the mech world, there's just nothing new that would drive used sales. Novas are neat, but people don't buy them to replace an existing gun, they buy them because they like collecting oddities, so a new Nova doesn't create an old gun on the used market.

Magfed people are more likely to accessorize than buy a new gun when they want to change, so again, fewer used gun sales. I don;t think that there has been a real significant improvement in the actual magfed gun world since the EMF.

I agree, it ebbs and flows with the season. Some people don't play in the winter (weird) and have other hobbies to take up that space. Warm weather brings people out to play, which makes people want to buy things.

It also highly depends on what you're selling. Like even as I type this, I'm in the middle of a deal to sell a marker that I didn't make a post to sell.

You guys that mentioned tax season... I'm not so sure it'll be a thing this year. Most everyone I've talked to is paying in this year. Times is tough on a lot of my friends right now.

I've almost always been a subcontractor, so I'm used to paying in every year. I've also made enough on PayPal with my side business to have to pay for that, too the last couple years. I haven't received a tax refund check in probably a decade.

Don't worry it hurts a lot less after you run out of money and physically can't buy things

One of the advantages to running my paintball finances completely separate is I never have to worry about paying out for a tax season. One of the disadvantages is also never get a return influx of money either. It does simplify things a lot though paintball money is paintball money and house money is house money and the two rarely interact

That’s how I run it as well, except paintball money sometimes turns into house money when I get enough, but never the other way around.
