What's the difference between one piece and two piece automag carbon fiber bodies?

I'm looking at automag carbon fiber bodies, and notice two distinct variants. One is a single piece of carbon fiber. The other variant is two pieces, and the breach/feedneck area are aluminum. Why the change? Was there a problem with the single piece bodies?

I think it was just a cosmetic change. Trying to continue the carbon fiber style through the breach section.

So the one piece came later, after the two piece? Are there any weaknesses to the one piece?

Correct. I would just say they are different, but not anything i have seen be a problem.

Final question, what is the value of either the one piece or two piece?

And thanks, you're always a big help on here.

Edit: Looks like Superman beat me

I have never seen a single piece Carbon Fiber Automag body do you have any pictures. All I have seen are based on a ULE body and just have the front and back sections made of CF tubing with appropriate milling but the center section is aluminum. You would need something durable enough to take the mechanical stress of the valve operation and provide a spring perch and even then you need a steel ring to keep from wearing that out. Below is a picture of my CF Body needing to be built and as you can see you need threaded sections for the trigger frame mount, detents and the feedneck as well as the spring perch for the valve. If you have seen a full CF body I would expect it has to have an aluminum slug insert but not sure I would trust that construction.

Maybe superman or LukeAO know for sure.

This one is mine. The one piece body’s are considerably more difficult to Manufacture. All the mounts for feedneck detents valve body are fitted inside the body. The one posted above is Riots. Mine and his are the only two one piece body’s with this style front end. Others in the run chose a different style.

The ones with the aluminum block in the middle are much easier to manufacture. I believe initially the cost of those were substantially less. Cutting CF clean can be a real paint in the cheeks.

These were designed and manufactured through cougar20th a few years ago now they are all really nice pieces. Not sure what they sell for on the used market they were very limited production I haven’t seen one posted for sale. So it’s difficult to put a price on one but I’m sure a one piece won’t come cheep. You should see Keith’s double barrel one it’s wild!

Not really sure honestly but I do know they are very rare. Mag values can get wild. I imagine they will go for whatever someone it’s willing to spend on one. I haven’t seen one listed. But I have a ton of money into my personal build most would not pay what I would want to let it go. But everything has a price I guess.

Didn't XMT make some of these also? I've got a two piece warp left one in my stash. Pretty sure I bought it from XMT on AO... but I could be remembering wrong.

                  he made both styles.

To clarify, I have had XMT make me 2 very small very limited runs to bodies using the "Camo Carbon" that I supply to him. 10 of the 2 piece style and 10 of the 1 piece style. They were expensive to produce due to carbon cost and the carbon destroying 3-4 end mills per body.

Xmt has also made both styles in the standard weave Carbon fiber in the past. Both gloss and dust carbon.

I talked to xmt this week. He is not interested in making more of the 1 piece style due the complexity of them.

Prices on any Carbon body is high as they are sought after with 1 piece bringing a premium over 2 piece. Then the camo above that due to the rarity.

Currently I do not have or know of any camo carbon bodies that are for sale.
