    Emek issue

    Played the splat tag giant game yesterday and had a weird issue with my emek. Only happened once. While rapid firing it went into super turbo crazy mode. Like when an old tippy lost pressure and couldn't catch the sear, but 10 times faster. Went away by holding the trigger back. Went so fast it didn't even chop a ball. It was freshly cleaned and lubed. I'm not worried about it, but what the heck happened?

    Some of the early ones did this. I know OSG had their early rental fleet do this on occasion. My understanding is was due to input pressure they were using on there rental tanks. Possibly “too high” but don’t quote me on that. They were using 3k tanks I think (800psi) assuming again. They ended up solving the issue by lowering input pressure. It would only happen on occasion almost like a tippman tuning out of air. Like the bolt system don’t reset all the way. It don’t come all the way back so no ball is Chambered. Soon as you pull the trigger it stops.

    I’m pretty sure it had to do with input pressure. I run 450psi to mine and it rips. Are you by chance running a high pressure tank on it. Also when is the last time you Cleaned the reg in the grip it’s easy to neglect . Check your reg seats to. And make sure that free floating pin behind the trigger isn’t all gummed up with paint and dirt. Do your valve seals have filters some of them do some of them don’t. If you do clean them and bow them out with compressed air.

      Also, I worked there for 2 seasons, one of our fixes for that was wiping any excess grease off of the switch part of the gamma core.

    Which trigger valve was in your Emek? The old stock valve, the FL 3-way, or the V2 hAir?

      Bad o-ring on the uhhh I forget what it's called. People would purposely mess with that to make it go "full auto"

      It's a completely stock first generation. All I've ever done is clean and lube the bolt. It's just a back up. My mech ion decided to start leaking and I was tired of pumping.

        I agree that a bad o-ring on the switch in the bolt engine is the likeliest culprit, especially if you're running the original stock trigger valve.

      Bad orings on your switch/shuttle (blue part in rear of bolt assembly). Originally PE supplied it with 015’s from factory but after a year or two switched to 016’s for a better seal. If you open up your manual (you can download it as well) there’s a troubleshooting page which tells you a symptom and solution.

            I might be reading this differently than everyone else, but I think his problem is actually the rearmost #6 Seal on the Three-Way Valve Spool. When the Three-Way Valve Spool doesn't properly reset for any number of reasons, the rearmost #6 Seal will flutter rapidly and loudly. It sounds a lot like a runaway Tippmann, but louder and faster. The fact that his fix was to pull and hold the trigger back further supports this. If his gun was actually firing full-auto, like when caused by a faulty forwardmost 012 o-ring on the Spool, faulty forwardmost 016 o-ring on the Switch, faulty forwardmost 020 o-ring on the Valve Chamber, or one of the rapid fire switches (which function by simulating a faulty forwardmost 012 o-ring on the Spool), holding the trigger would have cause it to continue firing full-auto.
