    Cocker Internals ID

Decided to install the Nova Balance valve in a half block cocker so I could do a heads up comparison. Haven’t fully disassembly the marker, so was a little surprised to find the internals:

What hammer and valve is this? Never seen a hammer like this before. It weights more than a standard half block hammer.

CCM, same internals they produce today except an aluminum valve instead of the newer brass.

Be forewarned that you may have to make some modifications to the Nova valve body to be able to use it in a half block. Obviously not all half blocks are the same, but I'm in the process of installing a Nova valve in a Racegun Half Block, and I had to modify the valve to clear the pin on the bottom of the sled.
      I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Ah, very good point I did not consider! I was going to use the half block do it could do a better comparison with my Lazarus’s sniper, but I’ll see if I have the same issue.

Just got the marker dialed in. Shoot about 279, smooth other than the bolt orings. I have the IVG flush and adjusted off the reg. No modifications necessary. Seems to shoot nice.

Awesome Cdn_Cuda! I'm glad it went in with no modification needed.

That long hammer was designed to cover the slot from the inside to minimize the crud that can build up on the main spring. The slot blockers are the same idea, just more effective and more noticeable.

Interesting. I always thought it was just a sneaky way to make a heavier hammer

today is a day of learning of me. I always thought it was to stop spring deflection.

Hey, that valve is like one of mine (not mine though). It will work better with a heavier hammer as well. That valve stem is bigger, and should close faster as a result (the pressure itself will do the closing).

Nova valves suffer from pretty bad hammer bounce/farting with heavy hammers and supplied spring

I do have full ID spring kit, so hopefully it helps. I only have stock hammers though, none of the jenni Kraig style lighter hammers.

I've got a couple of half block hammers I don't need if you want one... I think they might be Empire hammers. ~44 grams, I think?

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I have a spare half block hammer, thinking it’s an Empire one as well. Have a decent supply of cocker internals on hand. Thanks though!

Figured you probably did, I'm just trying to get rid of stuff. 🙂

Went ahead and dropped the Nova valve into my CCM’d half block just to see how things work. Seems to work well. Haven’t adjusted the reg yet, but just as a straight drop in with supplied springs it seems to work fine shooting with the barrel muffler on. Kids are asleep, so have to wait to try it with paint.

Surprised people have to hunt down a tool to install the valve. I have a two sets of nut drivers on my pegboard on my workbench. 1/2 works great.
