    68 Carbine? 68 Special? SMG-68? SL-68/II/II 2nd gen?

Denny Tippmann sure loved that number.

Basic stock 68 Special and not beat all to hell....top dollar $70-$75 shipped...low-end and beat to hell $30-$35 shipped. If it comes with extras, you can adjust your price accordingly.

Weirdly, in 1990-91, the 68-Special was the gun that was everywhere. Even SMG owners were all converting guns to 68-Special. They were reliable, and easy to work on.
But by 1992, they became obsolete, and nobody wanted them. Even today, with all the mil sim and nostalgia, they don't have the love that most other guns have.

I absolutely loved mine. It had a unique sound. KaPlinkKK, KaPlinkKK. Never, ever broke down. I remember an ad from 1991 that claimed "More 68-specials sold then all other semiautos combined!"

But.... yes, heavy, yes, inefficient. The feed is an issue.(most end up being ducktaped), and barrels require tools to change. Not uncommon to strip the screw. The chopping issue with small paint, and the gaslines tend to fail at the worst possible moment. And kinda easy to cheat with, and expect to loose that factory squeegee the first day!. lol.

I think once 2nd gen guns came out, lighter, smaller, more effecient, 68-specials vanished. But few guns had the presence that the 68-special had. Remember, when it came out, it was super popular, but most players still had pumps. Rentals were still all pump, and at $400+ (1990 money) it was out of reach of many players
