Autococker ram rebuild ?

Ok so I know I won't know 100% without testing with air but I rebuilt an old brass ram with the ACP parts kit and it just doesn't seem to return to position when doing the old finger test to see if it's any good, my trilogy ram without a rebuild springs back to position like it should, anything I should check or maybe the ram itself is just toast due to age

Barbs? The treads may be all leaky and may effect suction.

I haven't put barbs on it yet, it has a tiny bit if suction but not like my trilogy ram, maybe I'm just being paranoid cause this is my first build

Depending on the fit between the ram and piston, the prongs may require some amount of pressure before they will seal. Some designs will actually not work until a minimum psi is reached.

I just did an old brass wgp ram. It leaked from the base thread and the tube chamber not the barbs. It leaked from where it splits in half. I disassembled and put some Teflon white tape, it went away. I didn’t test suction as you describe, but it functions and does not leak.

I thought the leak was coming from the rear barb but it was from the threads of the ram body.
