Looking for suggestions on holding mags.

Now that I've got a magfed gun I'm looking for ideas for holding DAM mags.

I don't plan on running more than a few mags on-person at a time, so I'd thought maybe a dump pouch would work... but I'm interested in any and all suggestions.

I am trying to stay away from a vest if possible, though.

Pockets, dump pouch, belt mag holders, thigh rig, or a vest (which I realize you said you don't want) are the only things that come to mind. Would some type of modified bandoleer be too close to a vest for you?

If you chose dump pouch, I'd run two. One for full and one for empty mags.

For belt mag holders, I've thought about trying these. Not sure if they'd work well with a thick belt, since they're meant for molle. Also not sure I'd run them mag down if on a belt. - https://ansgear.com/warrior-molle-pu...agazines-black

Chest rigs seem like the obvious solution since we don't wear armor.

Oh, right. I guess when I saw vest, I was thinking of chest rigs as vests. I use and really like my Condor Rapid Assault chest rig.

Chest rigs aren't looking much better than vests to me... maybe I'd have to try one.

The last few years I've been running a SC harness (and loving it) because I'm either running SC or a Winny on a pump... so I'm trying to stay light and mobile if I can. Maybe that means I'll hate Magfed. 🙂

A belt setup might work, maybe I'll get creative with mag pouches and an old pod pack.

I guess you could try something like this? I think you might need something sized for larger mags, but the style seems right. Rifle Magazine Pouch | Consistent Retention, Comfort, Accessibility | Blue Alpha

I think they are called range belts, typically used in action shooting. I'm not sure what they would actually be like in a game environment since most action shooting is done in a controlled environment where you stay mostly upright. Not having anybody shooting back makes a big difference in how you move your body.

If you don't want to carry too many, I would say just slap a few of these on a belt and put them behind you. Basically run them like pods

100rd pod packs work perfectly for 20rd dye mags and will probably be the cheapest option. Followed by Chinese milsurp Type 56 AK chest rigs.

Not necessarily that one, but it gives you an idea. Got one cheap at Walmart.

Belts to your waist, so no bulky vest. Two compartments each hold like 4 or 5 mags. Load up one with full mags, drop the empties in the other.

Now if you're the kind of player that dives and crawls and rolls around a lot, well they're just held loosely, so they'll likely fall out. But a more laid back player shouldn't have that problem. Or a little creative work with some foam and duct tape can make some snug fitting dividers to hold things in place.

I was having the same issue trying to find something for my CF-20’s. I tried a few options but ended up realizing that using the “+” straps on my bunker kings pack worked really well.

You could buy a BT magazine bandolier. It's basically a pod back but it has 2x large sections on it. Indeed in the top hole on either side. Pull mags out on the bottom.

I have one, and I use mine for rockets occasionally, but its purpose was mags. They arent very highly reviewed, and it looks like you can get one for 5 bucks at ans..

Here's a link to the ans one. It's got crap reviews for being bulky, which it is once full, but if you loaded 6 mags in one side, and jammed empties in the other it would work well enough for 5 bucks.

If you're running the 20 round dam mags they fit with very little effort into normal pod packs
