Does a Cocker pump truly need a regulator?
The current tank regs have insane recharg rates and ROF
on a pump would never truly outrun the Reg . So why I
an inline reg i ask ?
If your tank is setup within the pressure range that you need, then you don’t really NEED a secondary regulator…..however it won’t be as stable/consistent…..
where is doc fire when you need a tank reg dyno done
personally all my builds are done with balanced valves, so all my velocity adjustments are done via the HPR. But it wouldn’t be hard to setup a sniper to have all velocity adjustments done via IVG
ive been thinking of trying this too. adjust tank output to like 400psi and run an unregulated cocker pump. i assume the hpr reg would make it more efficent and easier to adjust (depending on tank reg)
Nope not necessary but it is nice to have an adjustable regulator to use when setting up a combination of pump stroke, spring rates and velocity. Original Snipers ran with CO2 bottles screwed straight into the VSA and still were great. Little harder to get setup because of the need to balance out the springs (valve/hammer) for a good velocity range but not that hard with a little patience and a chrono.

Yeah absolutely it will work IF your tank is in a good range. However all tank regs have a pressure curve. You need to know your tanks pressure range from full to empty and the pressure of the sweet spot of the valve. It is very possible to create a situation where you end up with hot shots when the tank pressure drops slightly into the sweet spot of the valve.
For example, the azodin kp that came without a reg sweet spotted a bit below 800. When run on a 800ish psi tank, they can drop into the sweet spot near the end of the fill and the fps jumps up.
Just be aware, it seems counter intuitive that a 30 psi pressure drop can increase fps but if you hit the right part of the curve for both the reg and the valve it can happen.

I did this to Siress once. I was running an unregulated mini-sniper and when my tank pressure got low (13ci tank) it began shooting super-hot; one ball went through his T-shirt and drew blood.
It does work I’m using a Hk Lp reg output is 318 psi a little less then I want and I’m using a low pressure valve kit in the marker chrono in set to 295 with 4 turns of the IVG no shoot down at all i would love to have the tank output be around 400 to 450 I just had the reg laying around so I made it work
Dumb question. If one has both tank and inline reg, would it be beneficial to have it close together? For example tank reg is set at 400 while inline is at 300.
