USPS package "in transit, arriving late" - lost, or just slow?

Sent 11/30, last scanned 12/4, been like this every since, the date updating every day or two:

What do you think, just taking its time because of the time of year, or out of luck?

I had an issue with this same message with something I mailed out but the package eventually got to its destination. Good Luck

The reason it hasn't been scanned in awhile is because its in a giant pile along with the rest of the usps backup. Had a centerflag dynaflow bottomline sit for over a month listed as "in transit".

Contact your local Post Office and have them check.

A lot of these tracking numbers are being generated when the label is printed by the shipper. NOT but the post office when they have it in hand.

We had a tracking number from Best Buy that was showing this same message but the USPS didn't actually have a record of the barcode being scanned at any of their facilities. It was only in their system that the tracking number was generated. The website when we looked up the tracking number on the customer facing website it showed 2 entries for the same location. Their internal tracking database showed nothing beyond that the number was generated.

Now you can hate, rightfully so, on the USPS and say that a scan was missed, or it fell of a conveyor belt, was put on the wrong truck or any other number of mistakes that they make all to frequently. But my advice would be to take a "Trust but verify" approach with the seller and the carrier.

This is a two way street I’m afraid. I’ve had things like this eventually show up, about 90% of them. So patience is your friend. That said I’ve also had some disappear forever. In particular a phantom 86 grip that should have been here in more than enough time to make ano several years ago, but is still out in the ether instead.

In my experience it’s the small stuff that causes problems. Especially small bubble mailers. Had a custom strap show up late and wrecked. Packaging looked like it got sent through some gears or what I can only assume are mail teeth. Also a small bag of 3way hose that was late and absolutely covered in thick black mystery grease with a note from the usps which basically said sorry not sorry.

You are not alone. I've got an Inception Scout body kit somewhere between Fort Wayne, Indian and Western Mass. My local post office says this is due to large drops of packages at their DC's/Hub that all get released at once and that causes delays. My package was shipped on Nov 28th and I'm being told it may take up to a month to arrive.

everything in shipping is delayed. Patience...

recently my packages have been getting held up in one spot for 2 to 3 weeks.

normally there is a Christmas rush but they have been working at max cap for awhile now.

Retail stores are even doing shady things. Target kept moving the delivery date back a day at a time. My wife called and they said it has to be the next day to make a claim (or something along those lines). turns out, the item was on back order. and they just kept pushing the delivery day back a day every day.

It’s everything from most places. Same message from paintball retailers, kids online toy stores and things for my wife. Stuff is coming from all over the US. I’m going to just play the waiting game but damn it all. Hoping for a better turn out than our friend who lost 2 raptors.

I had a fun one with Canada post.
I followed the tracked and was said delivered.
                    Nothing at my home.
                    I called about it.
the next day I get a delivery card.

Mine changed delivery date, then sat in transit for about ten days. I wouldn't worry.

                        USPS is all messed up.
I ordered something from Wisconsin to California Priority mail (Large flat rate box) on Nov 30. Still not here
I ordered something from Rhode Island to California Priority mail (huge box) on Dec 6. Got it yesterday

Yeah I have a bunch of stuff stuck somewhere in limbo right now. Normally I get stuff 1-2 days earlier than it tells me but since Thanksgiving it’s been several days behind. I think a lot more people are shopping on line this year and it’s causing delays.

I'm having the same thing with USPS "your item still moving but arriving late" thing. Seems like USPS is totally screwed up right now. Not sure if the items are totally lost or the system is just overloaded right now. Have 2 items stuck in process for over 2 weeks now.
