I think playing at a field you like, even if less frequently due to distance/cost/Covid, is better than playing somewhere you hate. Work close to home for your $$$ and then travel for your fun. Then your boss doesnt get his money back lol.

All the fields that I mentioned in my initial post are closed.
Thanks for the advice on asking the neighbors, I might try that.
I think I have a way where I can play at the close field, without having to deal with most of the issues I have with them, and the ones I will have to deal with aren't the worst.
Thanks for everything.

I appreciate that. Most of my gripes with the field as a player are really with the kind clientele and behaviour they allow to go unpunished, and I'm pretty sure my dad is the same. I plan to ask the owner if myself and friends are able to get a private group. Normally 20+ people are required (or at least need to be paid for) in order to get a private group. If we self ref, I might be able to do it for less. I know the owner has allowed other staff members to play when there was no ref because the staff players were expected to enforce safety rules in addition to play, and the other players were experienced enough to generally know what they were doing. My friends aren't the type of people who are inclined to cheat IMO, and are generally responsible people. I'm also willing to sit out a few games to be a dedicated ref until they get a feel for the game.
