Been out of the loop on the latest stuff for years now. I'm looking for a small HPA tank to use on a Phantom. I'd like to get ~150-200 shots. What options are out there these days?

It looks like many of the sources for 8 & 9 ci tanks I know about have dried up, but you may be able to find one with enough digging. Even used should be fine since they're under 2" OD. -
I get an easy 150 shots off of a 9Ci with stock sliver springs and a 14β barrel on a 3k hot fill. There is also a 10ci that are usually a lil more money for some reason. Then thereβs the tried and true 13ci those are available in 3k and 4.5k carbon fiber.
The 3AL tanks 2β or less are lifetime hydro exempt. (3k)
The Carbon Fiber 4.5k still requires hydro when due.

150 from a 9/3k? Impressive. Wasn't the old rule of thumb c.i. X 10 for 3k, X 15 for 4.5k. I know Phantoms are efficient, but I wouldn't have expected that many. -
As long as youβre not running a super large bore or short barrel setup and feed it 800+ psi on the stock silver springs. I can shoot my Joyride (15 tubes) and a 12 round feed dry with some shots in the tank on a hot fill. Itβs perfect for a Stick fed phantom. Itβs my favorite way to run it because it will perform really well on 12g with very little adjustment over the chrono switching between the two. I keep it clean and lightly oiled. ππΌ

I have one, I think the reg needs rebuilt. If I see you you can have it.Comment

Any suggestions on regulators? From google searches, it seems like the First Strike regs are crap. Which is a bummer, because they are short which would help for my specific project. HK basic reg is cheap, but HK = yuck.Comment

I run a FS reg on mine. Iβve had mixed luck with FE regs though. The one I currently have is doing just fine though -
I have an HK tank and reg I've been using for over a year. Shimmed it up to 950 output and replaced the fill nipple and it's been rock solid ever since. There were a lot of issues with the fill nipple not always working with specific fill stations, but a quick swap got that sorted.
If you just need a small tank for a phantom, I've been using a 13 CI 3k on my Trracer for what feels like eternity and I've never had a single issue with it. Super tight and comfy.Last edited by Myrkul; 04-08-2025, 08:52 PM. -
I have the FS 13/4500. Reg is fine. Last time using it was on an S6.5 with no issues. Been 2 years, still has about 2k psi in it - probably not good to keep air in it that long, but it hasn't leaked/exploded yet, Crom willing.
Kid uses an FS 4500 peanut tank on an emek. She has nothing to say about it, but no news is good news.

I run a 9 ci tank vertically off my phantom a good bit, for a bottom line I have a ninja 45 lite that I love for about everything, smaller tank the same length as a 68.SL 68, 68 special, Pro Am, Pro Lite, Factory F/A, Mini Lite, SL 68 II, 68 Carbine, Model 98, 98 Custom, VM 68, Z grip Automag, Phantom(s), Classic Automag, Air Star Nova, N3 Hellion, Emek, Metadyne Phoenix, Nelspot 007, Nova N1Comment

I love my 15/45 tank. Its super light, and holds more than enough air.Comment

13/3k or 9/3k for me. Usually good for at least 3 and 2 games respectively, but I also shoot very little paint (~30-50) a game.WTB Acid Wash Phantom Parts
