    Air America Regulator questions

I’m considering picking up an AA reg, but wanted to know your thoughts on them- I love the way they look, but didn’t know how big of a PITA they might be, in terms of sourcing repair parts and getting them to work properly.
I love the way they look, but don’t see a whole lot of them around.
I plan to put one on a pre 2K
    thanks again, fellas!

I thought Immortal Air had a small amount of parts for the old Air America regs, as it was the same people.

looks like they at least carry reg seats.

I’ve run black ice regs on a few of my older cockers. The uni reg and black ice regs are built off of the automag classic valve design and the reg pin and seat can be swapped from one to the other. I’m pretty sure that air America came back recently under a different name and offered rebuild kits for their regs. But worse case scenario you can do the automag swap.

I run Air America Armageddon adjustable regs on a few mags, and even through one on a fancy Piranha for giggles. I rebuilt a older Apocalypse reg as well, but I just don’t have a dedicated bottle to run it on.

The Armageddon is the one I’d recommend using if you want a tank mounted adjustable regulator. It’s lighter than the Apocalypse, and because it has two halves, a gun mounted front half, and a tank mounted back half, it can be treated much like a standard asa. This means you can have multiple front reg halves mounted on different markers, but you only need one back half reg portion mounted on your tank and you can switch between guns as if you were using a standard HPA tank.

Internally, the Armageddon is extremely simple. The bottle back half has the reg seat and reg pin. These can be sourced new from Immortal Air ( which is owned by Dan Colby of Air America fame). The gun mounted front half of the Geddon can also be rebuilt, as it uses standard orings.
You can use buna orings on it, but it really is meant for quality polyurethane orings. That’s what came standard from Air America. For the ‘outlet pressure adjustment strut’, I use polyurethane orings from an Automag oring kit. They are a serious pita to get installed on this strut, because polyurethane orings are so much more dense, and harder than buna ones, which is why they last longer. I have to let them soak in oil for a couple days and pre-stretch them before I can get them on the strut. Lots of cussing.

Other than that, it’s a cool, simple design with a very high flow rate. Armageddon’s just look cool on an old school marker!
