Ordering orings

Ok so as some of you know I'm trying to rebuild one of those system x lpr and 3way and I had the thought it's about time to order an oring kit, is there a known kit that most of y'all use...I stumbled upon Captain oring are they any good, I was also thinking about using poly orings in my 3 ways and they have the sizes needed

The minimum order requirement may be excessive (50 or 100 in some cases), and shipping isn't free. I still prefer using them them because they literally have EVERY size, material, durometer, cross section, etc, individually. They do have assortments/kits as well, but I tend to just order the handful of sizes I need for a project.

Probably gonna go with this one looking at other kits it's hard to beat and then order some 003 and 006 for 3 ways in urethane to try out

Just ordered an ion rebuild from Capt O-ring, out of curiosity. I'll let you know if they're any good, lol.

Ordered from orings-online.net in the past. They have a decent amount of kits listed, but also sell in bulk (1, 50, 100, or 250). May be ordering from them again soon - need a Micro Max Flo kit, and they have it. Now I just need to hunt down a piston seat...

Captain Oring uses color-coded buna, which is nice for finding sizes but they don’t last as long as plain ol black rings - their dynamic seals crumble often after one season while black seals seem to last a long time.

I order kits from orings-online.net. They have marker- and regulator-specific rebuilds or you can go with their master rebuild kits that have tons of common sizes. Or buy in bulk for specific sizes. Quality so far has been great.

I'll dispute that. Hell if this were true then half my o ring kit should be in crumbly bits right now and none of my markers would be working. I typically only do one order a year. I've always had a mix of colored and black and have never noticed any difference in performance.

I'm sure you can find bad colored rings just like you can find bad black ones. Hell the worst rings I've ever had were black buna, the mold didn't even line up right they had a visible seam.

I've been ordering from theorimgstore.com for probably close to a decade now. Great place, quality rings and the guys who run it have a paintball background so you can ask them paintball/technical questions. They helped me track down an obscure ring that was some European spec id never seen before. Hell, still haven't seen it since.

For sizes, I recommend getting something like a flambeau case and organizing. Get the case first so you know how many slots you have

003-019. Go to 022 if you plan on working on shockers

107-116 I have 117-119 but I can't remember the last time I needed them

More recently I also started stocking metric. Not really needed if you are just starting to put your kit together but I have both 1mm and 2mm cross section 2-22 is what I settled on. 2x16 is the sail o ring for anything with an ion bolt so those are handy to have if nothing else.

Oh and tank o rings. But I actually order those from Captain o ring, they are much cheaper and I can get a big pack of tippmann detents at the same time

I over-purchased a large Captain O-ring kit several years ago that I'll never use up. It has served me well. I just rebuilt the ultimate o-ring crusher with it, a non-cart PGP, so we'll see how they do.

Ok guy so does oring material matter, if it's a seal that doesn't move or have anything move over it I know it doesn't matter but say like in a ram or 3way does running urethane or a "smoother" oring make a difference

And if I was to tinker around with different oring materials which ones would mostly be used in our applications

Everything about an O-ring matters (technically). The material, diameter, depth, lube, temp etc. but at least in "old paintball" it doesn't matter as much since the machining was done freestyle. They basically cut a groove, knew it had to/didn't have to hold pressure, then put an O-ring over it that would fit.

For something like a 3-way, you can polish the inside of it. You could try different O-rings to lower the depth thereby making less friction, but using undersized/overstretched O-rings is technically ill-advisable. But then again, it's not like you're using a pneumatically assisted Sniper Pump running on 12 grams, so you don't really care if you lower your gas efficiency.

One of the reasons why tinkering with a Cocker was so complicated is because of its complicated mechanical nature. Side to side play in the trigger/sear (wasted motion), resistance of the sear on the hammer (friction), the trigger's ability to "return" to its original state (chopping), the gas pressures in the 3-way... tons of things that can increase/decrease the feel and reliability.

Specifically for 003 on that site that you’re looking on, I bought every single material. I ended up having a custom 003 O-ring made for me by them.

Hbnr green, urethane, are both good to have. Depending on who the manufacturer was on their HBR they can be a bit small. The HBNR are safer from them.

Ok I'll keep it simple then and just stick with buna and urethane I don't wanna make my head hurt more then life already makes it 😂
