Kicking the tires on a JT Impulse as it’s a bit of an oddball. Sounds like the reg seals aren’t great, but are the same as GOG uses on some markers. Anything else I need to check for? Marker has been sitting for 4-5 years so expecting a rebuild.
What to watch for on JT Impulse?

Personally I don’t know much about them.
This website did an excellent and informative write up though.

Biggest thing to watch out for are disintegrating reg seats, and bent bolt pins.. those were commons issues with every JT impulse that came around the shops I worked at.Comment

Reg seats are the same as early Luxe, I think maybe up to the ICE, but I can't remember 100%.I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.Comment

The JT impulse came later and was in very wide production, still selling new on some websites in the past several years.
I rebuilt a JT impulse once. The rammer cap is threaded the same as a similar year Ego, so I was able to use my pressure tester on it to dial in the LPR. It had some magic part in there that let me get down to 8ms dwell and still shoot consistently at 280fps and 10bps. They actually are not bad if you get a good one. But stock out the box, they are so loud as to be usable for serious competition, although XSV used them near the end of their Pro run.
Sadly I cannot find the shooting video I made of the one I worked on.Comment

I believe some of the early ones had software issues that caused poor paint handling, but I think it was resolved pretty quickly and this was during Kee's really great customer service, so I don't imagine there are many guns out there without the updated software.Comment

I had one for awhile back in the day and it never gave me issues. I only briefly owned it though. I'm just stopping by to say it's a worthwhile oddball gun to have in the arsenal, great example of a classic poppet. But there bolt pin issue mentioned above troubling, and surprising considering how smoothly I recall mine shooting. Luckily that's not the most expensive part for a decent machinist to fabricate.Comment

Just in case you do love the Impulse, here is a less expensive option to having a new bolt pin fabricated.

It looks like you'd have to buy Boss's upgrade bolt too. I own one of his Axe bolts from like 2010. They actually changed how the Axe shot so his products aren't all hype and def quality.
But check this out in the description...
"Fits Planet Eclipse Ego 7-11 or Etek 1-4"
Makes me wonder if you could just use an Ego bolt in the Impulse if you eve had a problem...Comment
