Tippmann on life support (Needing super clean)

I've Youtube'd, Googled, and searched and found good cleaning videos. Some differ from others. From what I gather wet 400 grit will work well. Scotch Brite for internals was suggested. I saw someone polishing the inside with a rotary tool using a polishing compound. As you can see in the photos she arrived in bad shape. I have a Harbor Freight sonic cleaner I bought a couple of years back. Someone in a video suggested purple-colored simple green for aluminum. Any suggestions?

*edited to add* I'm noticing the response trigger hose / cyclone feed hose look to be the size of cocker pneumatics hose. Lord what did I get myself into here lol.

Surprised it doesn’t just air up and work. You likely won’t get everything out in 1 try, break up the majority of it however you want really, dishwasher, (pressure washer?) then get the leftovers with the sonic cleaner or a long soak.

Doesn't look too bad tbh. Tippmann tolerances are such that it should still be able to work even if you can't get all the dirt/oxidation off.

400 grit sand paper will work just fine. I normally use that as a starting point to polishing the internals anyway. The R/T line is 1/16" Which is the same as Cocker front block line. You really want to get the "low pressure" R/T line which moves the hose size up to 1/8". It's faster and more reliable then the stock 1/16" line.

I personally used a dremel w/ sandpaper drum and a wire wheel for the cracks n' crevices, on the outerbody...YMMV

Don’t go too crazy on it. I use a dremel to do a light polish of the internals. The worst one I worked on someone used as a blender years ago and never cleaned it. The old paint was all through the cyclone and along the body. It was bad enough the paint was corroding the paint job. Got the old paint cleaned up, added oil and the sucker ran great. Keep it as a beater or strip the paint and give it a custom job.

That's immaculate compared to the rentals i have in my Walzmas giveaway. All i did to them was lube the bolt and hammer and add air. They started firing with no problems.

What some others said- that could be a lot worse. I use soap scum cleaner for those super grimy jobs.

Tilppmanns are nearly indestructible. Soap and water will get most of it out. I use mag wheel polish on the steel parts and polished the inside of mine with high grit (1000) sandpaper from the auto parts store. Get the kind that will survive wet sanding. I wrapped my hammer in the sandpaper and gently sanded where it slides smooth. Did the same with the bolt.

The dishwasher will work as well. Get the gunk off, buff down the rough spots, clean well (you don’t want grit in it when you air it up!), add oil and let ‘er rip.
