Resurrecting a Worrmachine

Hey everyone,

I'm working on getting a buddy’s Worrmachine EG up and running and I have a couple questions.

1. The valve is missing, does this thing just take a standard Spyder valve and cup seal?
2. one side of the eye harness has been damaged (pic below), can I use Spyder parts for this as well?
3. can I use Buna o-rings on everything in this? I presume the hammer o-ring (at least) will need to be urethane.

If you got any other advice besides “throw it away” I’d love to hear it.

That marker is mostly incompatible with anything Spyder or otherwise. It is the same as the Brass Eagle Avenger and the entire Aegis series of markers they released. Getting parts isn't too hard if you just buy one of the other markers in the line to steal parts from as they can be had for cheap. Hardest part is going to be the electronics

Thankfully the electronics seem to be in perfect shape except for the eye.

I might have a avenger laying around I'll have to look. I have a good chunk of spyder parts but those eyes may be more difficult

Get some pictures of the other end with the board connection

Buna is fine for everything, if you are using CO2 the hammer o ring may wear out faster but on HPA that's not the case

Aren't urethane seals more resistant to abrasion than buna so they would, in theory, last longer as dynamic seals? I still try to use urethane in some dynamic seals and reg seats, like cocker rams and manifold Max Flos, for this reason despite using only compressed air. A blow back hammer seems like an ideal application for urethane over buna.

I think it depends on how often the gun would be used due to the lifespan of each material. Urethane doesn't last as long as buna. If the gun is going to be regularly used each weekend then urethane might be the better choice. If the gun is more of a wall hanger then buna seems like the right choice.

Regardless of seal material, make sure you get the durometer correct. It probably has the bigger impact than the material itself.


Id try to fix the stock eye hardness before searching for a replacement. It looks like they just need to be soldered, and easy fix for someone who knows how to do it.

Yes poly rings *typically* are better for heavy use applications and *can* survive longer in a blowback hammer. Over the years I've found it's pretty negligible though. The specifics of each marker play more of a roll than the material and they are so easy to change out I always tell people that if you already have one or the other just use it, don't bother going out to get something else

Doesn't matter. I've used buna 70 and 90 and polyurethane 70 and 90. The stbb design really doesn't care.

In a perfect world and if I know the marker will be used primarily with CO2, I throw a polyurethane on the front of the valve and the hammer. Those are the two spots that will get the most temperature swing from the expanding CO2. But again, if I don't have them readily at hand, buna goes on
