Stubborn barrel gunk

Out of ideas. Have a glued one piece Dye Boomstick, so can't separate it to make it easier but there's some dried up gunk stuck in the back portion and nothing has been working. Hot soapy water, tried spraying some Good Gone, rubbing alcohol. I'm about to shove some steel wool in there

Acetone? Tetrachloroethylene (brake kleen)? Methylene chloride?

As you're only dealing with the stainless part you can go a little crazy.

Lots of oils polymerize with oxygen exposure, so it's an acrylic or similar and can be attacked as such.

Alwaya had the best luck with this, but i wouldnt be against some fine steel wool on a stick

I received recently a marker that hadn't been used in decades. It was put away filthy and stored that way. The barrel had gunk in it that would not come off. I used Pro Team barrel treatment a number of times, scrubbing like a mad man with those ultra cheap barrel swabs consisting of a foam cylinder on a small diameter wooden dowel. It took all night but it worked.

I like this idea but with a drill.

So it's almost gone, been using chunks of steel wool type o stuff for dishes. Just a couple harder to reach specks but it's basically there.

Put half a barrel swab in the drill press.

From there go nuts putting whatever you feel you need on the swab

Baking soda and water would be something I would try though if none of the chemical ideas were working

I had some success softening barrel gunk with oil, waiting, then using dishsoap and 70% isopropyl alcohol

Hot hot water with dish soap helped. Tried a little mineral spirits, then stuffed some of that steel wool dish in there and it got it all out

soak it in diesel gasoline for two days - haha.

Generally, I'll order some Thai food and ask for extra chopsticks. Next, use your favorite knife to sculpt the ends into different shapes. Wood/bamboo won't scratch your finish.
