    68/4500 Tank Gelcoat Cracked

    Hey all -

I lent a buddy my 68/4500 tank at ION and he took a good fall and you can guess the rest. I don't see any damage to the underlying fiber and the two cracked areas didn't feel raised at all. I put some gorilla glue over it and wiped it to seal the cracks for moisture purposes. It's been holding air and fired a few times since it happened with no issues. What's the general consensus with these types of situations?

The manufacturers all say cracks in the gelcoat are cosmetic and don't affect the bottle until the gel starts coming off and you can get to the bottle itself underneath.

Typically you have to have it cracked really bad to have the gel start coming off

Looks like there is small amount of fraying right where the impact was ? Or is that just a scuff?

This is when you should worry about replacing it, pieces just peel off
