5" insert in XL barrel ... Spacers?

    Hello y'all,

Anyone used a large ID freak insert cut to 4" long to use a "spacer" To stick standard 5" freak in barrels bored for XL?

If so, how does it work?

    Thanks,
    X

That sounds like a lot more work than just buying a single XL insert

I thought the whole idea of the XL "Control Bore" barrel being the length it is was to "act as the "acceleration zone" for your paintball. By trapping air behind the ball, you get maximum power from the air released by your marker."
"XL maximizes consistency, accuracy and efficiency. Keep the air behind the ball longer, allowing for full acceleration."
I always thought the XL was to sell more barrels in a market already oversaturated by older Freak barrel systems.
I remember trying to do some FEA research many years ago to determine the optimum barrel length to stabilize a paintball.
It didn't turn out very well.
Tom Kaye did quite a bit of research with length, efficiency, porting, and "control bore".
He came up with the 8" of "control bore" and 12-16" of total length.
Most of the barrel manufacturers including Inception, PE Lurker jumped on that and it is pretty much the industry standard.
