    VASA? Identification help

    Hello,
Looking for information regarding the VASA?/fore grip pictured. I hate to sound silly, but would like to make it functional again. Has two threaded ports on opposite sides, but bottom end does not look to be threaded. It came on a Hypermag I purchased. Original builder/seller told me at one time what it was, but I have since forgotten. Any information appreciated. Thank you in advance.Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_8420.jpg Views:	0 Size:	4.17 MB ID:	739206

I think the vasa and foregrip are two separate ones. I think CP did some foregrips like that, they were not gas through because like you said not threaded on the bottom. It might be also Dye I think I have one that is not threaded too. Different milling style

Thanks for the insights. I have typically seen the fore grips that screw into the VASA. Like stock VASA on minimags. It appears to be two pieces. I have tried to unscrew by hand, but way more than hand tight. I have not yet tried to use any leverage in the form of a strap wrench. Was hoping for a positive ID of parts to get a better idea of what I am working with. I will note that when I shine a light into the side I can see light from bottom and vice versa. For whatever that is worth.

the angled vasa with the dual airports is an old RPG angled vasa, I've got one on one of my custom builds. Not sure on the gas through grip? looks nice though

Thanks Magageddon. Well, I have since tried to remove the grip using my strap wrench and can't seem to break loose. Before I really take to it. Can you confirm which way the threading is. Eg. Right tight, left loose. Regardless this grip might be a permanent resident. Thanks again.

Yeah its standard right tight left loose. It should be two pieces both seem about the correct size for two pieces. Never heard anyone using thread lock on those.

Thanks. I did give it another go with my strap wrench. No luck. There seems to be a pretty strong bond of some sort. I left it attached to the rail and held the rail will I cranked I strap wrench. Will have to bust out the vice, or cut my losses and just get some plugs and run it as is.

Heat it before your next attempt. They are def 2 pieces, probably loctited together.

Thanks, there is definitely a bond of some type. I have used blue loctite for some applications, but this bond seems quite a bit stronger than that. I did run some hot water over it, with no luck. I am not going to take a torch to it. How much heat is safe for anodized parts? Not sure at what point that would breakdown a chemical bond. I might try targeting the VASA with some heat from a heatgun. Just don't want to damage the finish. Well, anymore than the idiot marks already on it.
