    Are safety's required?

Designing a new Automag trigger frame and trying to figure out are safeties a thing that is required.

I have always made my frames accept a AGD Safety. But never supplied them with it. And have seen very few with them installed.

Do the tournament leagues require a safety?

I want to say i had a conversation with Simon about this one time and he said i think it had more to do with liability than actually being used.

Last I talked the anyone about it they were a thing that insurance companies wanted there but no field ever actually checked.

The Gargoyle was built without one, and of course every sniper style gun with and auto trigger.

I'm unable to offer up legal reasons for safeties however I've not had a marker checked for a safety in over 30 years of playing, some of that at the tournament level.

I know I havent had a field check for a safety ever. And with all the electro guns that don't have any. (I know turning it off is a safety but no one does that)

I always use mine. My rule is 2 safety devices always when off the field. I don't like that the sport has gotten to the stage that a single point failure can lead to someone losing an eye. And the thing about it is if someone loses an eye, the chances are it's not the person who failed to secure their marker and it shot in the staging area. It's someone else.

I rock climb as well, people are way WAY more serious about safety there and I think a lot of it has to do with the consequences are immediate and typically directly to the person who failed to take safety seriously. My wife and I are basically replacing all of our gear because of age. It's about a 99.9% chance that it's all still great and will hold up but the manufactures suggest 7ish year life cycle on nylon products so that's what we are doing.

It's sad that as a society we don't take other people's safety as seriously as our own but that's where we are apparently.

So I always have two, barrel bag is always one and on a mechanical I use the safety as a second. If I didn't have that I would be depressurizing the marker between games and I don't really like having to do that .

So, not that I'm in the market for a frame but tbh if your frame didn't come with a safety or at least the ability to install one that would be one strike against it when I'm looking at options

Caring about other people’s safety requires an amount of above 80iq forethought that a mechanical safety in and of itself wouldn’t provide for someone incapable of even thinking about engaging a safety in the first place.

When I was participating in the ASTM for paintball, Safeties were definitely required in order for a gun to be compliant (and therefore covered under field insurance). At that time, they even went into fire selectors (at least for electronic guns) the whole idea of switching the level to full auto and then needing to fire several shots before actually going to full auto.

I like having a safety on a trigger frame, but I know I am in the minority. They have never been hard to maintain in functional condition. I never depend on them, but like to have them as a secondary safety to the barrel condom [sock].

I remember a story about team Tippmann showing up at a tournament with their brand-new SMG-60's.
Disqualified since the SMG had no safety. But the story goes on.
Some bright tech used a dremel to cut a notch in the body to rotate the cocking pin and hold the hammer back, allowing their use.

It's about the only instance I can come up with when that rule was enforced.
But yes, insurance requirements can be higher than field enforcement.
There were rules against cut trigger guards, lack of trigger safeties, mask coverage. So-called "Whammy Bars".
Most were about safety and rightly so.

Some people ignore rules, some fields don't check.
I took the safety off my 'Mag mainly because I'm left-handed. Merely pulling the trigger would engage the safety and it's not reversable to the right side.
No field I've played has ever even looked.

Ok true but on a pump you just have to not load the next round and it's even more effective than a trigger safety

I shot a montneel at many a fields without hassle. I once got checked by a ref that thought I didn’t have a trigger guard on my tippy but I did. Only time a ref questioned anything in my 30+ years.
I’ve been at a few places that tell you to engage your safety and pull the trigger before walking off. That’s the only time I could say I was caught off guard when safetyless… but I’m the safety so it’s a trick question lol.

Use the AGD safeties. Nice red line on them to show its on. Easy to install. I'll get them for you if you like.

Well the overwhelming majority say it's a good idea to include safetys..

tunaman5 I will be in touch. Still in the planning stages.

I think that's smart to use the agd safety. More compatibility is good
