If you're looking for something nerf branded, there's lots of adapters for the Nerf Titan ASV-1. It has a built in hand pump and can launch demolisher missiles (the 2" missiles) with the right adapter about 50 feet or so, if you want something better though I'd look at the Nova N8 fury -
Before you spend the money and time making one. Things to consider is co2 use, and field insurance.
Most fields will not allow homemade launchers on field for games. Also, the most basic launcher works, but burns a whole 12 gram per shot. So it adds up over time to use it.
the commercially made ones I know of are:
jCS alias. Long discontinued, but you can find them used.
metadyne havoc. These are kinda still made, but in batches. The last batch was made a year of so ago. No guarantee they make another, but keep an eye out.
Nova actively and sells what I believe the only readily available launcher on the market.
Rockets, you can still find KNA rockets, 2" nerfs, and or you can make rockets out of foam.
Lot of the local guys at my field have switched to shooting mini tennis balls. They don't fly as well, but they are super cheap.

i was at skirmish this weekend. a guy had one, it didnt look homemade though. it was HPA powered and had the tank mounted to the back of it so he was able to rest it on his shoulder. he was a bit too busy for me to ask him about it unfortunately. i appreciate the great info. im going to do some research.
edot- after looking them all up, the guy definitely had the nova n8. THANK YOU! -
Sounds like he had one of the NOVA launchers. Technically J&J makes launchers but they DO look slightly home made as they're basically modified sprinkler valves. They seem to mostly be selling them as some golfing alternative and bait launchers these days.

I remember back in the day that people made homebrew launchers that launched paintballs like a shotgun. They used a paper towel or toilet paper roll, rubber-banded aluminum foil on one side and filled the tube with cornstarch and paintballs. As many as it would hold. Then they would rubbe rband another piece of aluminum foil to the other side and load it into the breach loading home made cannon. When they shot them, a huge puff of "smoke" aka cornstarch and a mess of paintballs went flying. These were common at early Viper scenarios. EPIC to say the least but I am super happy that they use nerf rockets now. Those paintball tube shells were nasty, even chrono'd low.Do hard things for fun. Being soft is for sissies. Being an asshole is easy, thats why everyone is one. Being stand up us hard. Be a hard bastard but be respectful.Comment

This is probably because all of the safety gear is designed to withstand paintballs and doesn’t get tested at all against foam footballs at unknown velocities. I would have questions for any field that allowed this kind of thing. There are probably more holes in their safety systems…
There have to be better ways to kill a tank…
I always thought it was due to safety of the launcher itself.
The original law plans were galvanized pipe and pvc glued together.. i always thought they got banned to prevent a poorly made plactic bomb from going off on field.
Will a 12ie carry enough volume to over pressurize that assembly? Doubtful, but maybe after 500 charges it will.Comment

KNA is gone, NOVA took over their production earlier this year. Before you spend the money and time making one. Things to consider is co2 use, and field insurance.

It's not gone. Scotty and goodie bought the company rights from Jacob Neg Ray years back. They were supposed to get the manufacturer info, and keep manufacturing, but Jacob fell through on that part.
It's 2 70+ year old paintballers. They have some stock left last I checked, they just don't have any internet presence.
I'll shoot goodie a text and see if they have any rockets for sale. I'd happily middle man that.Comment

Best ones are the Havoc Launchers with the brake action breach. Don’t get the ones with the super long barrels you don’t need it and they don’t shoot any better.
Nova makes a nice one that are more reasonably priced and readily available.
Kush Nation Army makes the best rockets.
These are the ones you want.Comment

I stand corrected on Kush. The guys sold the name to Nova and don't have any stock left.Comment

So Nova is making them now? I have a big box of them I bought with my launcher so I definitely good for now.
Nova has them in stock 5.99 a piece anyone know if they have the reenforced spine like the Kush?
Also says “Call for Bulk orders for better pricing”

They got the plastic spine in the tail? That’s what makes them shoot straight
