Automag Classic Valve - PMI Perfect Charger

Does anyone have info on the back half of this automag classic valve? Got it in a trade and can't find any info on them. Is it related to CO2 mags?

It is just another aftermarket valve back that is lots of hype but little to no performance gain.

PMI Perfect Charger. I think it may just be a 12 hole mod to supposedly help with air flow.

I'd have to double check to be sure, it's been years since I had to take my valves apart, BUT I was able to get the red level 10 spring working with an 8+ hole modded classic valve back. My single hole classic mag has to use the gold spring, like every other classic mag valve. Could just be a fluke, since I haven't acquired any additional 8+ hole modded valve backs to test it, but it is possible that the many holes enable you to run the heavier springs on the level 10 bolts.

That's my theory on what the many holes mod is actually good for anyway. I'd love it if someone with more mags could dive into that theory more.

The back end of the valve has zero bearing on if it can handle a lvl 10 bolt and/or a red spring or not. The limiting factor is the regulator piston assembly, which is the single part of the valve that has the preset release valve that vents a too high input pressure.

Basically, if the valve was made before the introduction of lvl 10, there is a very high likelihood that the venting threshold of the piston assembly is to low to handle the pressure required for a lvl 10 bolt. You can't overcome that by switching out the back end of the valve, no matter how many holes you have drilled.

I am by no means an expert, but I've always been able to get the gold spring for the level 10 to work on a classic valve. Literally every single time. I've built several of them for friends and family. The 8 hole modded one is the only one that worked with the red spring though. That's my experience anyway.

I have a hypothesis that the springs changed at some point - spring constant, supplier, something. The three Level 10s I had within the first few years it was released all ran the red spring. The four I've set up in the 2020s all used a gold spring; I couldn't get the red spring to work below 325ish fps. All seven had the higher pressure reg piston, and all seven used the loosest carrier that wouldn't leak.
