    PGP - I think?

I blame all of you for this impulsive buy. I guess i just wanted to be like all you cool kids lol. I believe it's a pgp but i could be wrong. I was a 2000's speedballer so it's obviously before my time and possibly as old as i am which is cool because i have a car and a house that is as old as me. I couldn't find the "what did you get in the mail today" but that's alright because i dunno what i bought and i think it has potential I scored this off shopgoodwill.com (sorry if i outbidded you). I have no idea if i got a deal or not or what it's even worth. However that's not why i'm here. I'm here for all of your advice and ideas as to what i should do with it.

    What exactly did i buy?
Where can i get rebuild kits/parts?
What parts should i upgrade or replace?
Tips and tricks or advice on restoring it? (i have restored copper and brass before but not paintball related)
What should i do with it? (open to ideas. i trust ya'll. ya'll have done amazing things that i would have never thought of)

I think I remember seeing this on shopgoodwill, good on ya for getting it lol

I'm not the most experienced person but this looks like a Sheridan PGP, it's pump action, takes 12 gram CO2 cartridges in the front of the bottom tube, and takes paintballs in the top tube.

I am nowhere near experienced enough to tell you how to restore it, but bacci paintball has a lot of used parts that you can buy if something is broken

Personally, I would just leave it in stock and use it at stock class events around the northeast, there's a bunch of them each year and they're all good guys. Check the Northeast thread of the "local games" section, I think the next event is Reaperball up in New Hampshire next weekend

Thanks buddy! that's good info. I'll definitely have to check out bacci paintball when i start taking this apart.

And yes, i have been checking out the northeast thread. I was hoping to get another game in this year but it has been a crazy busy year. I definitely want to join ya'll for some stock class or pump games. If i can't squeeze one in this year then i'll make sure to make it to some next year.

Oh man - you got the goodwill one! I had set a reminder for that but still managed to bungle it up.

I've gotten way into PGP's lately, and that is indeed what you have. an all PGP pistol game is some of the most fun you can have in paintball IMO, but to really make it usable you have some work ahead.

find the Sheridan sub forum here on MCB and read up

I sell a 3D printed grip for these that makes them far more ergonomic - look in the dealers section of MCB. PGP Junkies sells a number of handy upgrades including Docs quick changer, seal kits, RVA's and spring kits

more advanced mods include boring out the valve and transfer port, homemade wedgits so you don't get rollouts. finding a the holy grail of PGP bolts - a cooper T speed demon, or making your own.

getting a valve tool is also critical to success with these - they are nearly impossible to get apart and add replacement seals without one you can make your own - I did, but this works far better

its a slippery slope down the brass lined rabbit hole - jump on in!

Sorry buddy, i'm surprised i got lucky winning it. I was on vacation in tampa with my wife. She gave me the death stare when i said i won a paintball gun πŸ˜†

Thank you, this is awesome info. I will definitely check out your grips in the dealer section as well as the others. I feel like a quick changer would be very nice to have. And thank you for the valve too link. I didn't know they had a special valve tool so i guess this will be my first purchase.

I'm jumping in head first like bugs bunny

Thats an early pgp. If it was a pg conversion (the original bolt action version) the bolt would be knurled.

Palmers, or there's a guy in the dealership section I think who makes rebuild kits. Been a while since ive done one. You'll need a sheridan valve tool, its different from an autococker tool, to take it apart. They arent hard at all to fix.

Play with it as is, nothing you add or modify is gonna make a massive difference. Maybe modify the back cap to make it a velocity adjuster (drill the back cap for a grub screw, thread it, add a washer inside the cap for the grub screw to push on, thereby pushing the spring) you already have a quick feed cap on top, (shove a 10 round in and pull it back to lock the balls in, its been a while play with the mechanism). Maybe an extended 12 gram knob or a fasst changer for it. Possibly add your own widgets to prevent roll outs (a light tap on the barrel with a punch on both sides right in front of where a ball would sit)

Thats the original patina, you can always polish it for some shine.

    Play with it.

My first brass was a pmi1 and I didn everything to it. Now I miss it but would love to get a bone sto k one again.

Thanks for the info! I had a feeling this might be an earlier one. It doesn't look like the bolt is knurled (i'm assuming you mean the front of of the bolt). It is pretty sharp edges with a flat solid front face. Theres no markings on this one at all that i can tell other than some hand etched "440".

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to try my autococker valve tool after i looked at the one Drcemento sent me. Saved me some time and ensured me to just buy the right tool. And the back cap velocity adjustment mod sounds like a good one to do.

I appreciate the 10 round feeding. I honestly did not know how that worked. I would have just been dumping them in lol. In all my years of playing paintball i have never used a 10 round tube. I went from shake and bakes, to revis, to halos, and now rotors.

I sorta dig the original patina. It reminds me of my huddies rat rod. But yea i'm sure i'll polish it up nice and shiny.

You have come to the right place to sacrifice your PGP on The Altar Of MCB.

Lots of great Brass Smiths here willing to lend the knowledge to mod it yourself or do the work for you.

My custom PGP Creeper Customs built for me is my favorite shooter. Mine is modified for single shot / quick draw. She has won quite a few competitions for me.

It was converted to a center fire Kp length Bolt with custom brass pieces. Breach was moved forward off set left (since I’m a righty) and cut for First strikes. Chris did some work on the valve and modified the barrel for freak inserts. Then we added a Sergison brass K frame. I really want to make a custom brass trigger for it next.

Honestly play with what you got and go from there. Before you got ripping and tearing it apart. A Doc Quick changer would be a nice quality of life upgrade for it since the stock knob is so small to get a good purchase on. It’s a lot of tedious rotations when you change out. The knob makes it a lot easier so less down time. Other then that see how you like the platform and go from there. Creeper can add a freak bore with or without the feed. It’s a really nice way to update it for today’s small paint. It’s got a cool old school speed feed on the back that’s a fun upgrade and I like that pump handle style the best. I say put a few drops of oil in the lower tube put a 12g in it and take it for a spin.

Thats not a PGP its a spyder and not worth much... luckily for you I collect spyders and I will take it off your hands...

But really that is one bad ass PGP you got there with lots of cool additions already installed...

I have gotten too many kills with one of those in the old days.

Great score and good luck with your build, it is already well on its w ay to being an incredible marker!

russonti I highly recommend one, brings a different dimension to the game.

It is ABSOLUTELY my marker of choice (even in the winter), I always have it with me and it’s got a lot of notches in it belt.
Chris did a great job with it for me (I’ve made some of my own, but my finishing work isn’t great).

The Sheridan Armory is a great resource and also has some nice eye candy for inspiration. 🀣

Rebuilt kit and parts can be found here:
    https://pgpjunkies.bigcartel.com/products

If it's a P serie you need the component valve rebuild but (you most likely need this one)
if it's a PA serie you need the cartridge valve rebuilt

    The best upgrades are:
    - 12g fast changer
    - velocity adjuster

You can mod it for widget or get it freak bored.

Pmi grip are the best if you want to keep the sheridan frame
or if you want to get fancy, there are adaptor to fit an autococker slider frame or you can buy a K frame from Sergison website
    https://www.sergisonmachine.net/paintball.html

      1) JeeperCreeper thats very sad to hear. I picked up a garage sale PGP and was planning to get a BlueFork frame eventually.
      2) The convention seems to be that there is a gentleman's agreement that no one will compete with an original idea by a small manufacturer, but once they decide to stop making it anyone can make it with no social stigma i.e. Doc's release of Sheridan fast changers after Palmer stopped making them and 2-3 of us making Spring Pheeds after Apocalypse stopped making them. So... who wants to start making them so I can buy one next year?

I've thought about polishing all my brass. How difficult is it to get them shining like the ones in the pics above?
