So, I haven’t done it but have heard it works well to clear a broken ball. It’s not chapstick for your threads, but, has anyone tried it?
Rain X your collection of 30 barrels. Or blow hard?

Yes, not sure it does anything. I just do it to all my barrels when I get them. Clean dedicated swab and a drill. -
It couldn’t hurt could it? You could test it and do a write up on it.Leave Feedback if you wants. https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/b...edgin-feedbackComment

Well, I think Master Sconni does a barrel treatment for an extra 1 million dollars. So, let’s see… Ceramic coating? rain x? Sand paper? Jizz load from a pro? What slicks em’ up and gets em’ shooting slick like Rick? I like cancer, teflon?Brasso? Riot’s chapstick?Comment

On the tippmann og forums one of the guys did extensive testing on this theory.
From the data I read back then. It works. I used to rain x my barrels extensively. I've just grown lazy in my old age.Comment

This was a huge deal at my local field back in 1999/2000. Everyone and their mother was ranting and raving about it. Just because it was the popular thing to do, I instantly hated it. I was telling everyone that squeegees were the only real way to clean barrels properly. All these years later and there is no slicksuperlubeputtybutterhatergrease303, but there are better squeegees. Overbore, shoot more, fill air after each game, and carry a good squeegee. Rules to live by no matter what your paintball style is.Do hard things for fun. Being soft is for sissies. Being an asshole is easy, thats why everyone is one. Being stand up us hard. Be a hard bastard but be respectful.Comment

This is the first I’m hearing of rainex in the barrel and I’m interested. I typically avoid squeegeeing anything and will just shoot until they start going straight again. If I can do that 5 balls quicker it would be nice.Comment

If RainX works, how about that NeverWet stuff at Home Depot? It's "SUPERhydrophobic" and also works on heavy oils?
I mean, in theory, if paint is a polar molecule and RainX/ Neverwet are nonpolar and it prevents wetting (technical term) of the barrel, yeah, it should all bead up and slide on out more easily. Will it affect the spin of the paintball in any meaningful way? Will it stay for more than 10 shots? Will it give you x-ray vision? Inquiring minds want to know.
Edit: looked for an SDS, nothing yet for some products. For Neverwet Rain Repellent, "20% of the mixture consists of ingredient(s) of unknown acute toxicity." Fun. The rest is propanol, MEK, sulfuric acid, and as the actual "product", Triethoxyoctylsilane (which I'm assuming gets deposited somehow as a Pledge-like silicon coating).Feedback

Its never proven to work because....... the paintballs themselves wipe the coating off from the inside of the barrel with every shot. After a hopper, you would be lucky to have trace amounts still intact and functioning. I know this for a fact because AI told me so!Do hard things for fun. Being soft is for sissies.
