    BT TM7 Regulator is toast

    Hey folks,

Does anyone have any creative solutions for replacing a regulator on a BT TM7?

I've been working through my childhood BT TM7 trying to get it working again. I rebuilt the marker over the last few days and tried to air it up this afternoon, but the regulator isn't working right and can't be rebuilt.

After some research and experimentation, it's clear these regulators were never meant to be rebuilt and are incredibly unlikely to work given their age (last manufactured in 2010 or so). I attempted to dissemble mine anyways and ended up stripping the threads around the pressure guage pretty badly due to the red loctite. The piston can't even be reached, probably more red loctite to blame.

It doesnt look like there are any off the shelf regulators left in circulation that will fit. It's possible that someone out there has an empire relay regulator sitting on an axe 1.0 or invert mini they'd be willing to part with, but I can't find any on ebay. Even then, its likely I'd have to find a creative solution to mount it to my BT TM7.

Nonetheless, im pretty determined to get this thing working again even though deep down I know it isn't worth it. I mean hell, even its time the BT TM7 was horribly unreliable. Its sentimental to me however and I like the challenge. Whose got suggestions?

It’s literally just a mini reg that the whole line uses. Also if you stripped the threads on the gauge hole that’s a skill issue unfortunately. The gauge doesn’t even need to be removed to service the regulator

Did you even read the post? The regulator was toast before I disassembled it and the piston can't be removed. Yes, I removed the guage, but that's not what disabled the regulator.

But the regs are rebuildable. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense. So the only way that it’s fubar is because of user error.

Im fairly sure the tm15 is the same internals. I have one that had noid issues. For the price of shipping i would send the parts and a sercice kit I got trying to fix it

Just to give another option and for anyone who needs it in the future, one way you could get around this, if the reg on the market still flows air through it is to just plug another regulator into it. As long as whatever you plug into it will output about 200psi you should be good to go.

Potentially you can also get a tank regulator that outputs 200 and then only use the back cap for velocity adjustment (technically that's the way the marker is set up anyway but people have different opinions on the way to adjust velocity)

There is a guy in the empire/invert mini Facebook group named Jared Durham who machines mini gs ASA adapters. This lets you put a mini gs ASA on an original axe or invert mini. I wasn't able to make my relay ASA stop leaking so I switched it out for a mini gs ASA and it works great. As long as the TM7 regulator is the same I think it should work for you.

I'm thankful you posted. I wrote to Jared and he hooked me up with an adapter! He's the real deal.
