I had never heard of a Mokal before and was doing some research and came across the Mokal Aura and it looks pretty neat. It has looks and features like most current production spool markers. Learn something every day.

Yeah but the really cool part about them is they use an off the shelf clapper solenoid to control a valve which in turn operates the bolt movement.I had never heard of a Mokal before and was doing some research and came across the Mokal Aura and it looks pretty neat. So, probably an excellent candidate for mech conversion... added to the used-markers-to-keep-an-eye-out-for list. I'm intrigued.Comment

Probably not, unless I'm forgetting something about the design you would have no dwell control so the velocity would be all over the place

If you want a good candidate for mech conversion, I've had my mind on doing a proto slg for a while. It would need to be a pneumatic mech but it already operates on about 200 psi so if you tap off the marker you don't need a reg. The thing that has me caught up is you need a valve or ram that will put a momentary pulse to just kick the sear. If you hold it open the marker will go full auto

If you can find one that works. Someone sent me one to fix and I was stumped. Even tried alternate bolts. The thing could not get paint out the barrel without breaking it.If you want a good candidate for mech conversion, I've had my mind on doing a proto slg for a while. The bolts have issues deforming slightly over time. Especially the lip where the sear catches. It mushrooms slightly and then drags causing all kinds of issues. The last one I had I basically duct taped to a large drill bit, spun it up on my drill press and ran a file over the effected areas, the bolt tip is another area that can have issues. After that it shot great.
Breaking paint though, I'm not positive about that one, I do all my testing with reball so I probably wouldn't have encountered it anyway
