    Help… Myth reg leak

So, anyone familiar with Myth regs who might know what’s causing it to leak from the little vent hole behind the gauge?

Have you tried just servicing the reg? Just make sure you use the right grease. It probably just needs a good cleaning and fresh grease.

Assuming it's designed like most regs that's a vent hole. As the piston moves the volume changes so that air needs to move. If that is the case then one of the o rings is dead inside

I'd recommend replacing that reg. Those regs don't have an output side burst disk so if the reg ever craps out it can put tank pressure straight into your marker

I thought that “weep” hole was their in lieu of the 1.8k disc and that it would prevent the reg from over-pressurizing the marker. If that’s incorrect, then I’ll definitely retire it. I used it pretty religiously back in the day and never had any issues with it.

When is the last time you cleaned it? They are not known for being the most dependable. I like them because they are short, hate them because they are finicky.

Guerrilla Air Myth Reg Assembly & Breakdown

The First strike Reg Rebuild kits work on that reg as well, if you can find one.

Dow33 is silicone-based and should be okay to use, right?

Those regs suck, imo. Same with First strike. Ok when they work and the they start breaking down.

Well, its already sitting in my bin and I love to tinker. I have other rega already on our tanks, so this is just a backup in case one doinks at a field.

Yes, you can use Dow 33 (also known as Dow Corning 33 or Molykote 33) on paintball tank regulator.

Dow 33 is a silicone-based grease you want to stay away from anything oil based. Carful with aftermarket grease you don’t know what they put in them to snake oil a sale of an existing cheep product and label it better (sent / coloring).

Also that hole in the reg is called the Over-pressurization relief port if its venting it does that as a safety feature and stops over-pressurizing your marker. Dose the same thing the a burst disk dose protects your marker. You likely just need to clean or replace some orings. The reg seats are often pretty durable.

This is the tiny black one on the piston stem (often Viton in originals for longevity). This is the #1 cause of leaks through the relief/vent hole. Size is 1mm cross-section x 3mm inner diameter (very small; not a standard AS568 dash number, so buy as “1x3 Viton” or “1x3 mm O-ring” from paintball suppliers). Buy extra since they are wear-prone.

                  Core O-Rings

                  Piston seat AS568-010, Polyurethane 90 durometer (PU90)
(or Viton 90 / V90 as alternative for heat resistance)

Piston, lower 1x3 mm (1 mm cross-section x 3 mm ID), Viton 70 durometer (V70)(or Polyurethane 70 / PU70; Viton preferred here for dynamic sealing and longevity)

                  Piston, upper AS568-010, Polyurethane 70 durometer (PU70)
                  (or Viton 70 / V70)

                  Flange, lower AS568-012, Polyurethane 90 durometer (PU90) (or Viton 90 / V90)

Flange, upper / tank seal AS568-015, Polyurethane 90 durometer (PU90)

If you can’t find a rebuild kit you can make your own. ☝🏻

I only use Dow 33 and 55 (33 on dynamic rings and 55 on static rings).
