This happened a few years back. I should've asked then, I don't know why I didn't. So I had this BT SA-17 (stbb pistol). I left the field one day with a full 12 gram inside it, spring feed loaded, feed plug open, safety off, and cocked back. Stupid I know (it did have the barrel sock on). I had planned on shooting it at home. And I left the field in a hurry, right before a match was starting. Young punk ref (like 19) started calling me "F***in blind or stupid" for asking him a question about the spawn. Never went back after he denied saying it, refused to apologize, and got c***y about me confronting him about it. Technically I'm banned, since I got loud calling him a few names back. Never any threats of violence though, he was scared enough. I figured you could leave it gassed up for a couple hours? I left a Spyder Victor (might of been an Aggressor) hooked up to my 68/45. In the trunk of my car by mistake, for like a week once. No leaks, but it shot like 205 fps afterwards! XD
Anyway I took side streets back home. But ended up at a dead biker bar (I did leave the field early). That I usually pass on the way to the field. Plan on just having 1 or 2 to relax, maybe get a burger. As I walk up to my car to leave, after maybe 90 minutes. I hear a pop of my pistol firing, and CO2 venting down the barrel. I fling open my driver door to find my black cloth Subaru Impreza interior, now has a crappy white paint job! XD The pistol was laying on its side in the passenger seat. Barrel facing the door. Half the balls in the spring feed were fired fast enough, to get paint splatter on the driver window. And some all the way on the rear hatch! I guess it started gumming up and losing velocity. Because a couple balls were just laying on the seat, or caught in the sock. Made a s***ty day, that much worse! XD
What could of caused this? When I took it apart, the cup seal has crumbled to bits. So I assume that meant, it just started dumping full CO2 pressure through the valve. But with the bolt and hammer held back by the sear. How would the sear drop the hammer by itself? Wouldn't the gas just vent off though the side vent hole? Did the SA-17 not have one, like full size STBB's do? And to continue re-cocking and feeding paint? I no longer have the pistol. So I can't open it up for you guys. It was not a hot day. Plus, I had the sunroof open.
