ID:	82998 Picked up some markers in the cheap, a Spyder Shutter Java edition (whatever that means), a Spyder Electra with Rockin’ trigger and a Dye DM7 maybe?! Anyone able to tell me what I have and whether it’s best value for me is the reg and the macro fittings and ASA (for my project cocker).

As always, thanks for the help!

Let's call it "Black and Blue balls"

I have no idea which model it is but wanted to throw out a name it SHOULD have

It's a Dye DMC (Dye Matrix Composite) from 2005. Its just a DM5 with a different body. I like em!

DMC, a composite version of the DM5.

Ah, makes sense. Went through the years on DMs and it was close, but not quite the same. I suppose I should at least shoot it before looking at raiding parts from it... first Dye gun I’ve ever owned! And thankfully it’s cocker threaded as it didn’t come with a barrel.

I think the dm6 is really where dye kind of topped out at until they came out with the m2. The dm7 is where the eye pipe started and I think the dm9 they changed the threading on the regulators so they are no longer standard, 12 or 13 went internally plumbed

I've had my dm6 for around 14 years now, it's only ever had 1 real problem and I think it was a factory defect that was solved with a new bolt. Now a days it's my backup/loaner but I doubt I'm ever selling it, it's pretty much the marker that got me to drive deep into paintball

actually it wasn't until the 14 before they went internal

other than that, you've got your timelines spot on

Yeah I didn't follow the series that closely.

Mainly because every time I thought about upgrading, I would look at the features of dm# and find enough that I didn't like that it offset any features I found that I liked. So it was always a case of, why spend money to end up right where I am now?

yeah, for me it was always an issue of resale. there's no way to buy a dye gun and even get a 3rd of your money back if you buy new or slightly owned, its worse than cars

also about the DMC, check the condition of the grey rubber above the reg, most all of the DMC's still out there have that part torn off (its moulded in, no way to replace it that im aware of not that it matters, there arent any replacements).. if its in good shape thats uncommon though

It's in surprisingly good shape. Cleaned up the paint residue last night and body barely has any scratches on it and all the moulded parts seem to be in good order.

DMC's can work with all the plastic parts removed and have no issues so they are kinda funny guns in that the lightweight composite material is just cosmetic.

Cdn if you need any parts shoot me a message, I have a full parts kit for my dm6 (that really want used much) and I'm sure a lot of the parts are compatible

Thanks Trbo, greatly appreciated. I generally avoid battery operated paintball guns but this set of guns was a real good price. I'm not planning on keeping the DMC but I'll test it and see if it works and if anyone's interested in it. Otherwise I'm happy grabbing the bottom line and reg off it and even just recycling the rest.

Shortly after the DMC came out, some people were removing the rubber/composite and calling them the dye dm-(minus)c. Looks pretty interesting

Huh, I've never seen one without the plastic, that actually looks a little better if you ask me

It definitely isn’t the prettiest gun I’ve ever bought. Looks like the previous owner had the battery stuffed in the wrong way and likely crinkled one of the wires. Can’t get it to turn on, although the board looks fine. At least the Spyder Electra and it’s fancy clicky trigger work! Anyone looking for a DMC project they can take this and run.... DMC.
