    Instapack case liner?

    Hello MCB,

I got my hand on a few Instapack RT ... and it got me thinking ...
Has anyone ever used those "Instapack" expansion foam to make gun case liner?
Wondering how long it would last.

No affiliation, but those are the ones im talking about:
    INSTAPAK QUICK® ROOM TEMPERATURE

    Thanks,
    X

No but I'm interested to see where this goes! I was just thinking of I can find a better way to carry my 5 markers in my dye bag that was built for 2

I've seen people use 2-part expanding foam to make custom drawer liners for tools and such. The trick seems to be to lay down a piece of plastic film between the tools/parts and the foam then cutting and shaping the cured foam to the desired shape. The finishing touch is to use spray adhesive to cover the plastic and foam with felt or fleece. The results are quite nice after some practice.

First attempt was a fail. The foam was way too big for what I needed ... Going back to the foam for this one.

          Build it backwards
Layout your stuff on the bottom of the box or case than add the Instapack when it is dry you pull everything out and flip the Instapack

How much did you spend on those?

I saved them from the garbage at work ... Looked at the price, didn't realize those things were so costly ...

At my old job, we did this for a granite square in a pelican case. I will say it works, hut that foam just slowly turns to pulp as you use it repeatedly.
