T4E Impax P68, Is it any good?

Was on Ansgear, checking out the newly released guns. Saw this neat looking pistol. Might be a fun gun to use in a match. It for sure could use a boost in velocity. But it's not unplayable as is.

I have yet to find a .68 pistol that doesn't break paint so I'm skeptical it will be worth it.

So, The T4E Impax is the trainer version, and shoots in the 220's. The self-defense version is the P2P Secure 68 that shoots in the 320 -350 range. Magazines and parts are interchangeable. I have one of each. I cannot attest to the playability. The CO2 change is not particularly fast. Magazine capacity is 6 standard with a 9-round mag available. There are video reviews on Youtube. Be sure to view the T4E Impax 68 videos not the Secure 68. The Impax seems to be fine with the paint. I do not think the Secure can use paint. I have no doubt that the valve in both are the same but the Impax has a valve block restricting air flow. This could mean that the block could be modified to boost the FPS to 280's.

I would be very of expecting any Umarex product to shoot normal paintballs without breaking them.
The only gun of theirs that hasn't proved to be a total blender is their break-action shotgun.

I 2nd this. I had the break action and it's usable and fun. Could use some improvements but I don't think their focus is totally on paintball. It's the non lethal market

Umarex has created a separate label to distinguish their intendent markets. First is the T4E, Training For Engagement, which is designed for the Law Enforcement community. They are designed to use paintballs for live action training. After their initial release, they started to offer the T4E line in higher joule capacity. These were designed to fire chemical and solid rounds, not paint. These higher Joule launchers were for the personal defense market. Recently they created the P2P brand for solely personal defense and eliminate any confusion. They even specify not to use paint in the P2P line. I have almost all of the T4E line. Some perform better than others. An unrestricted 16 Joule HDS68 will break paint while the unrestricted 7.5 Joule model does not. Some work well with paint. Some break paint because of the design to handle solid shot. For instance, the detent of the HDB can be brutal on fragile paint.
