Fog resistant mask choice - your experience?

I’ll be taking my son out to play this year, and today I pulled the mask out of the bin that I had intended for him to wear. The strap and the foam and the lens were worse off than I remembered, so I’m just going to spring for a new mask instead.

My main concern is fogging and visibility. (And obviously safety). I think his days playing will be made or broken by how well he can see. But I don’t want him to have to run a fan.

From a little research, I’m seeing Proflex is a good option. I have some Profilers that I like, but they do fog some. What’s your most fog resistant mask experience?

The Empire E-Flex is my personal favorite. The mask feels a lot like the Proflex, but the lenses on the E-Flex are super easy to change. Plus they are on sale on ANS for $65 right now. They have great visibility and good ventilation.

E-flex/E-Vents are great, especially for the price, but really any mask with a dual-pane/thermal lens shouldn't be too bad when it comes to fogging (at least from my experience)

In my experience, anything with a thermal lense works quite well and doesn't require a fan. My biggest question would be: Does he wear glasses? If he does, you really need to consider an empire EVS. Yes, you can have inserts made. But nothing works as well for me than the glasses I wear every day and my EVS. Contacts cut down on my peripheral vision, but they're a backup option.

I have both, never fog, best vision and comfortable. The old and new mask share the same lens.

I second this. I've never been able to get my Profilers to fog, no matter the season. Interestingly, my Profilers fit my son's head better than my JT Spectras, which I didn't expect.

Going to toss in a third to this. New Profilers aren't pretty, but they are an excellent mask and the visibility is fantastic.

I still use pro flex. I know there's easier lens change systems. But I'm used to them.

I've never once had a spectra lens fog up on me. I've also only played in dry climates so that probably helps.

I run a push unite and have only had it fog once in really terrible rainy conditions while I was on the field for over an hour in a big game and running around. Everyone was having fogging issues that day it didn't matter what mask you had.

Anything with a dial pane lens will be great. For the $ an e-vent or e-flex is freaking awesome. I do have an I4 that I need to get around to selling, but it is more expensive than an eflex or event

Thanks guys! Looking at the e-flex’s now, they seem like a pretty good deal!

Careful with the Eflex if the player has a smaller head. The straps don’t sit very tight. A lot of people double strap them. It’s the only mask I have had come off my face mid game.

Looks like you’ve already made your decision, but I’ll reinforce it by saying I’m also on the E-flex bandwagon.

Reasonable price and they don’t fog up on me, even when I’m huffing and puffing from climbing up and down hills.

I swear by Dye i4s where lack of fog is concerned. They offer the best breathability for me, coupled with an easy lens removal system, also being light and confortable. I do reckon however they're not suitable for people with bigger heads. In the last couple of years my main mask has been the CRBN Zero system (the 'less coverage' version) and I really like it. Great protection, light, very confortable, great breathability, stylish and comes with an awesome case. Doesn't fog up on me either. Pricey though.

The best deal right now seems to be the Empire E-Vent. $50; you get a thermal lens which can be easily taken off, as well as sporting great breathability.

Lastly I will say this: as others have mentioned, most google systems with thermal lenses should not easily fog up. That being said, I found that the biggest 'upgrade' I ever got was when I got in better shape and shed about 40 lbs. I can now run around all day in a humid climate and not fog up. Before that I would run into some fogging issues regardless of the mask I'd be using.
"Aren't you getting too old for this??"
                  "Nope."

I4 and I5 are awesome durability is one of the worst though and they are super expensive.

It's not a helpful anecdote, but here in the southeast US, 85-90 degrees F summer, drizzling/light rain, my carbon zeros fogged, my buddy's eflex fogged, and someone had an original grillz that fogged too. I'm not sure any mask/lens would have done well in those conditions

I rock CRBN Zeros, I only had them fog once during a very humid day and that was playing in a woods field. They never fogged the rest of the day, but I did end up buying a fan for them because I found one for cheap (still never have had to turn it on, even yesterday it was pretty humid and I was fine without it on). I also think that if I had the vented top on, they would have been fine. But as others posted, the price is up there for them because of the case and built very nice.

I would, for the cheapest suggestion while keeping very good breathablity, go for some E-Flexes. I ended up with one, and it seemed very nice. Comparable to Flexes but cheaper, also parts are swappable with Flexes. Soft ears already and that quick remove lens is nice if you like to clean stuff after each day. E-Vents would be fine too.

Proflex is the best in terms of no fogging (thermal lens) overall comfort (nothing beats it IMO) and breathability (nothing beats it IMO again) but for a smaller-headed person it might feel large.
