    .50 cal questions

    1) I am looking for Planet Eclipse .50cal Etha's to purchase for a 'VIP Rental' for my park...know anyone who's got some?

    2) OR... know any other .50cal electro's for sale?

    3) Head scratcher:

I am looking to offer 'Community Nights' where I offer .50cal PUMP guns; know where I can get (make/fabricate) some?

I can literally give a taste of paintball for free a few nights a month (under our lights) to help build up the local interest in our beloved sport...Thoughts?

.50 cal just sounds like more of a headache. And doesn't "hurt" any less than typical sized paint honestly.

I'd contact PE direct if you are looking for 50 cal kits. I wouldn't be surprised if they still have or are willing to make them for a field

Tippmann did a weird conversion on some pro-carbine markers I had a while back. Basically it was about a 6 inch bolt with a hole that lines up with the feedneck. So the 50 cal paint would fall into the bolt and when fired the bolt moves forward so that hole no longer lines up with the feedneck and the ball is fired out of it like a barrel. You still have a normal 68cal barrel because it helps stabilize the 50 cal insert that's riding inside of it.

But anyway I bet you could do something similar on a lot of markers if you got desperate.

call planet. they 100% got what you need.

my local feild switched to full PE 50 cal for rentals and no longer mixes rental groups with gun owners. its much improved experience for everyone. 50 cal honestly, ideal for rentals, as its cheaper, hurts less, and without direct competition to 68 cal works great.

'hurt' is subjective, and you have an valid argument (personal eval, not quantifiable unfortunately)
Testing paintballs by dropping them on the ground has similar results without any qulifiers)

Here at TAG, we spent over 10 years and $500,000 in 'testing', ended up copywriting "Medium Impact" with an objective (observable, testable, repeatable) decrease in 'Impact' (about 50% with .68cal and over 90% in .50cal reduction in impact. Consulted with the 1988 ASTM reg started by Russel Maynard and Jessica Sparks) <HORRIFIED they haven't changed much BTW> and will be posting the findings one day when I get around to it to help the sport grow.

Paint Quality (frangible/brittleness) Assumption: If .50cal breaks as .68cal, there should be a noticeable difference

Lots of variables, plus the fact the noticeable LACK of data leads to inconclusive observations.
I aim to resolve some of those issues.

THANK YOU for the input (kinda lighting a fire under my backside to get this out there!)

Thanks for the heads-up, that will be my next call (maybe talk to another sales rep?)
