For the straight fittings I prefer this style as they use an internal hex to tighten/loosen. Nothing wrong with externally tightened styles but I'm clumsy and have scratched a marker or two in my time by not paying enough attention to where the wrench is.

I thought all straight macro fittings had an internal hex, even the ones with the wrench area outside

I do believe they all do. At least the common ones do.

I definitely have some that don't but if that's the case then aesthetics would be the biggest difference

I picked some up from Amazon and so far they work fine. It was like $17 for 5 90*
