    Cheap fun project builds

    happy friday everyone!

Since joining Mcarter Brown- ive failed at restoring an old bushmaster, but succeeded at restoring (and updating) 2 angel LCDs! I really enjoy the process. I am just curious, what markers are out there that are relatively cheap with easy to come by parts for a guy to tinker on? As much as i love working on angel LCDs its getting pricey!

Bushmasters are cheap if you can find them, but they've been going up in price recently. Might be worth taking another crack at that bushmaster if it's not completely fucked

+1 for Slab cockers. Super satisfying to shoot, tons of options and they have that classic brick shithouse vibe

I never got the appeal of slab side cockers until I got one and I really like them. I have a sleeper rebuild that is just a great shooter.

Cdn_Cuda Same. I use my slab Sniper more than any of my other pumps, even my CCM.

Since it sounds like you’re getting good with Angels, feel like tinkering with some LED? I have two in my storage unit that I would make a good deal on. Also have a whole list of other 80’s/90’s projects waiting to see daylight.

If op doesnt pick them up id also be curious about the leds, been getting the itch for an electro project and always loved the single trigger frames on those

If you're just looking for some cheap markers to wrench on without having to worry about ruining anything valuable, you can't go wrong with some old Spyders or Tippmanns. You can do whatever you want to them and if the project doesn't turn out the way you want, you're out maybe twenty bucks. Spumps, rifle stocks, mag fed conversions, whatever you want. Go nuts.

I've definitely been eyeing this option up for sure. That could be really fun.

Also been toying with this idea, maybe attempt a bolt action spyder in an old wood stock for first strikes

Diablo Wrath/Rex Type-R builds are pretty cheap and fun to build. You can install a Lazarus valve in them and bring the pressure down to the sub-200psi range. I'm currently working on installing a Morlock board and replacing the clapper noid with something more traditional on mine

I didn’t know this. I should take the laz from my Trilogy and put it in the Wrath

trashcollector yeah, it's a pretty straight forward install. I have one in my Type-R project and it's running around 190psi. I also found an adapter nut that allowed me to install an aftermarket LPR. You can DM me if you want more info

Is the noid still not clicking on your Bushmaster? That was the last issue you reported with it.

You can send it to me if you want and I'll go through it. It shouldn't take too much to get it going at this point, I remember your old thread, and have plenty of spare noid parts if it IS a noid issue (which I doubt). If it's an electrical issue opusX is local to me, between his electrical wizardy and my affinity for the platform I promise you we can get it going again.

I consider ICD work "PWYW" btw 😘

I try to grab anything interesting that is both local and cheap and try to rebuild it. Have had mostly success and the odd failure. Have messed with a pretty wide variety of markers now and mostly enjoy the process, other than trying to get parts in Canada…
