    Looking for Advice on Loaders

Last week I discovered my Odyssey Halo has stopped working entirely. I haven't used it in a decade+ and the on button was always fussy (even brand new) with that "double-press" action. I can and eventually will fix it (board replacement, I think). I also have an original VL Revolution (sturdy black shell), which usually works great but it was spinning like mad for no obvious reason the last 2 times I took it out this year. It could be the dark shelled paint, or it just needs a thorough cleaning. I also have a VL Revvy with an X-board, but its 20-year-old translucent smoke colored shell has me worried that it'll crack the first time it takes a hit.

Which brings me to my question: What new motorized loader should I invest in and why?

It will be used on my mech 'cocker and my Shocker NXT. I'm currently looking at a Spire IR2 based on a friend's suggestion but I know I'll get a wider range of experienced reviews here.

    Thanks!

For the price of a used ir2 or Dye LTR, I'd pick one of those. LTR is a little heavier, but super solid, just adjust the tension all the way down and they're awesome. Ir2 is great, swapping rain lid and speed fees is toolless unlike the LTR.

I'm partial to a Revy with X-Board and a good impeller for semi auto, but I'd probably go for thr ir2 for a modern loader.

Honestly, a Revvy is probably fine for my autococker. I can't fire the slide trigger more than 5bps, anyway. Is a LTR or IR2 "too much" loader for a cocker? Obviously, either one will keep up with the Shocker

Second the Dye rotor. I've run them forever now in all my mech's & I don't want to use anything else.

My current favorite is the 1st CTRL with the runner up being the LTR. The CTRL 1 is semi force fed and accepts all the new speed feeds and the rain lid swaps out really quickly(which is important for me). The CTRL has a good profile and is also lighter than the LTR. I've got an IR and and IR2, and they are good, but I seem to have more issues with them than my CTRL 1 and LTR.

What sort of issues have you encountered with the IR & IR2? It looks like the CTRL1 had some fragility issues with the lower shell....I take you haven't experienced any ofthat. Also, of the 4 which do you feel is more compact in formfactor? My Halo is a chonk and I'd like to do better

GattoDiavolo Not alot, but more times than I can remember the exact count, when paint is a bit oily, the semi transparent feed area where the eyes read a ball in place, it messes with the eyes and just starts constantly feeding regardless of the amount of balls in the hopper.

I've heard of the CTRL issues but never personally seen or experienced it. Like Drcemento mentioned, it does have a particularly flat body so you have to tip the hopper forward to get a full pod in without spilling. I dont feed while shooting so its not an issue and once you get used to the angle, its just muscle memory. That is a plus to me though... I LOVE the low profile.

Tipping the gun forward to load isn't a big deal for me, because I have to do the same with the Revvy, but's it's good to know. I'm more of a woods baller (I'm shite at speedball) so I'm not laying down so much paint that reloading while firing is a consideration

I finally got a spire V and really love it. moved to that from a cntrl which was always a bitch to re-load for some reason - I was always shking it to get the paint in. the LTR is a rock but sooooo ugly and dated looking IMO. i started playing more semi when my sons got into it I thought it would be cool to rock the revy, but they are just sooo big. still waiting on a nicely designed smaller 100-150 round force fed hopper. A guy can dream right?

Admittedly, my Revvies are tall. My 'cocker is tall. Together they're like a high rise building
The loading issues you had with the CTRL were because of the tall drive cone?

I like the ir2 and dye rotor/ltr. They are fantastic for what they do. Rotor force feeds so best for really high rates of fire on mech. Ir2 doesn’t jam as much and a little easier in general, not force fed.

people have really been liking the carbon drv; but I don’t have exp there.

Since the IR2 isn't force fed, does still work when you're shooting at an angle (like the Halo can)?

I tend to use the ir2 just from an ease of use and doesn’t really jam on certain paint like the rotor can. I haven’t noticed an issue shooting at an angle; but I imagine the rotor is better for odd angles. I haven’t used the rotor much after I got the ir2. Both are great though. Easy on maintenance, batteries, and user function. Paintballers got spoiled with those two hoppers imo.

I have an ir2 and an LTR. I find myself using the ir2 more often. It's never once given me an issue, super easy to service and clean, and I like the lower profile. Keeps up on electros and mechs, also nice to have on pumps with an autotrigger.

I pretty much only use the LTR now. I gave up on the spires. I had 1-4. kept outshooting them. Don't have a problem with the ltr.

That's why I keep a rotor around. RT mag. I think virtue is the better overall hopper but there are situations that they can't handle

I am up to 4 LTRs. I purchased two NIB and two used. They are relatively well priced, work well on everything, and are easy to break down for cleaning. They are also very efficient on battery usage.

Personally I’m a big fan of Spires. They’re very gentle on paint, easy to disassemble, and the battery life is excellent.

I really wanted to use a revvy on my cocker, but im too jumpy with the trigger and chop paint so i went with the LTR. doesnt fit the easthetic but it helps reduce chops.

This wouldnt be a problem if i would simply learn some trigger control

LTR Rotor is my jam. I do like a revvy however my JoLo has taken its place. If I want it to to rip I use the LTR. Cheap reliable and feeds like a Beast. Keep fresh batteries in it and the thing just works.
