    Fiber tank life

I have a Carlton 4500 psi tank bought new in 2001 and is in perfect condition. Its been re hydro twice.
It's not usable anymore though correct due to age?
Just making sure before I throw it out, want to start playing again.

Make a lamp or marker stand if you DIY/recycle. Or like above, remove reg/burst disc and discard/recycle.

Drop it on the ground, drill holes into, try to see what it would take to make it unravel. Test it for durability. Then chuck it in the trash.

Just refrain from breathing the dust caused by drilling or cutting it. No bueno for your health.

A better phrase for the "botland", we live in, would've been better typed... "good for gallery use". Or a colorful phrase of "Paint Gallery object".

<putting on flameproof suit for a moment of pedantry>

Paintball tanks get pampered, see minimal cycles, and are made of very stable materials. A CF tank likely has a practical shelf life of minimum 25+ years and/or 10,000 cycles.

What you can't/shouldn't do is use it in a public/social setting. In the eyes of the government or your field's insurance company, it's unusable.

So - is it going in the trash, probably. is it dead, nah.

I have an old carleton around the bench for home fills. I bet it'll outlive me.

While probably a very true statement; flame suit is needed for that type of bold liability disclaimers.

Trash it! Dead dead. I try to extend life of things- but if it can cause great bodily harm (mechanical, pressurized, or limited life product) I try to be safe. Your life is worth more than $150. Now 2 year old hot sauce - dial me up.
