    PT Xtreme valve leak, and constant air

    I have a PT Xtreme. I want to use it only for constant air.

    I have attached steel braided hose and an asa to the inlet.

    When I set this up a few years ago I put a 12 gram in to just seal the pierce pin and left it.

    Well, I decided to break it down and clean it. All the o rings were really brittle and the 12 gram face seal was in horrible shape.

    I think I figured out all the o ring sizes for the valve but now the face seal crapped out.

    I don't care to replace it - all I need is to seal the front of the valve. I just want to use constant air.

    Any suggestions on how I can plug the front? Or should I just hope someone responds to my WTB and has some face seals that will fit, and do what I did before - put an empty 12 gram in?

    Have you considered removing the pierce pin from the valve assembly and replacing it with a grub screw and a touch of loc-tite? This would eliminate the use of a 12 gram all together and the face seal issue,unless the marker needs the empty 12 gram to act as a volume chamber,which i doubt,but took into consideration. then an empty 12 gram could be left there just for aesthetics.


    Just my 2 cents, with a bit of experience with warsensors and their variants. Good luck.

      I sure did consider that and would be quite happy to do so. However I don't have a grub screw large enough to fit the valve back plug. It's approximately the size of a 1/8 npt fitting, but not threaded for 1/8 npt.

      I do think if I had something like a small solid washer, that I could put in the back plug, then I could put an o ring in front of it (as I already have, see last pic) and then use the threaded front of the back cap (where the spring sits) to hold it down, and I think that would seal up. I have been thinking about what I could use and just haven't come across anything yet. Doesn't need to be very thick but does need to be rigid. I could probably cut something out, maybe from a cutting board? I have some kydex laying around, and also a little bar aluminum.

      But I've got to be overlooking a simpler approach, or already-cut item.

      I'm not sure if the valve is unique to the PT xtreme or common for all pistols but it's actually pretty cool and a little reminiscent of the cartridge valve in my PGP, except with a lot more o rings: a total of 5 o rings in this little valve.

      I did try adding an o ring to the inside of the valve back plug, which should seal the outer edges of the pierce pin washer, and my plan was to use another o-ring glued to the tip of a 12 gram to seal around the pierce pin. Dodgy solution at best, and of course unsurprisingly, no dice.

      It doesn't help that I'm not entirely certain I used the right o ring sizes (I'm fairly confident on the 015s, the rest were just comparing with new o rings from my kit, and that doesn't always go as planned). The manual isn't any help (link below) nor are the interwebz.

      But I sprayed some windex on it and I could tell for sure that it's leaking around the pierce pin, not from around the valve itself, and no leaking down the barrel, so for the time being I'm focused on getting around the pierce pin leak. If something else crops up I'll deal with that later.

      Disassembled - 3 015 and 1 014 orings. Hole on the larger part of the body is for the constant air port on PT Xtreme body. Smaller part has hole on opposite side for retention grub screw:

          See that your piercing assembly is similar to daisy/Crosman.
          what is the diameter of the pierce plate?,(for lack of a better term)
          Was thinking that maybe the disc for a Spyder RVA ( found between the RVA screw and the back of the plastic spring guide) could be put in place of the original Pierce plate.
          I'll keep thinking on a solution.
          Appreciate the photos,helped with with understanding of this model of pistol.
          Keep posting your progress.

            Funny you mention the spyder rva disc, that was the first thing that came to my mind too! :-)

            I ended up cutting a button head screw and filing it down a bit to make it skinnier. This almost worked I think - when I aired it up the o ring in my last picture was blown out. :-(

            I'm wondering if I should put the o ring between the button screw head and the threaded back of the plug instead.

          Stick a normal Spyder valve in there and have Kit make you a low pressure chamber that fills the space the CO2 cartridge normally in.

                The diameter of the piercing pin washer (what the manual calls it) is .29 inches.

                ​​​​​​I tried sandwiching the o ring between threaded back of plug and the button screw head, but no dice.

                What I really need is something shaped like a nail with a .39 inch diameter head and a short, maybe 1/8 inch long, .29 inch shaft. I can put an o ring around the shaft (giggity) and the shaft.

                But my workaround acrobatics are getting a little excessive when all I really have to do is put in a new 12 gram seal and 12 gram.

                Problem is finding one. I wonder if a pgp seal will fit......anyone care to measure?

                  I checked against a CCI CO2 face seal as the last of my PGP have been installed,but did find that its diameter is .39 .
                  Wouldn't be surprised to find most of these seals to be the same size. Likely a CCI seal would work (or PGP) given that it is compressed between the pierce pin washer and valve back plug. Not sure which of the seals (CCI/PGP) you can source,but definitely worth a shot.
