What is the range currently for a Bob Long MVP pump? It's in good physical condition but I haven't checked it for functionality.

Depending on upgrades they push $1000 ish.
Absurd I know more so because 4 years ago I sold one for $600-
They are kind of cool, but there was a while where they were going for $5-600 and I just can't wrap my head around the $1k+ prices they are fetching these days. Bonkers. -
Same.... I liked mine up until I found a unicorn a d it had to go for raising the funds
That being said the lock point and tiny frame screws annoyed me to no end

Social media is behind the drive in price. They are very over hyped. I sold mine for 750 a few years ago. Now you can find them 1k and up.
Blast could never figure out how to get them to shoot right. So the marker was a massive flop. They require low pressure so you need a specific bottle for them. (The most annoying thing about them for me). Feed it normal paintball pressures and your blowing out the oring between the grip frame and body. (Specialty bearings) while yes they do have most of its moving parts riding on bearings. They are difficult to source and replace making them not the best marker for future proofing itself. Then you get to the annoying valve bounce aka the Fart. They sound like a Tippmann running out of air just short and loud. Auto trigger Lug would skip and felt like crap and sometimes work. I owned a brand new one and literally gave it away I think I sold that one for $400 because it was broken from day one. It was a fancy Ano expensive turd of a marker.
Now Paul Van something or other AKA PVN was able to mod these to not valve bounce it made the marker quiet and have it better efficiency also fixed the AT Lug skip. This in my opinion is the only way to own one you couldn’t give me one that wasn’t modified. This is the only reason the MVP rose to the popularity it is today. Think hose less Phantom with the feel of a CCM finished in Bob Long. It made these things shoot like they should have from the factory. Unfortunately Blast had several renditions of updates that later came out. Non worked like Paul’s. So it’s truly hard to tell if one is PVN modified or not. So the performance range of these markers greatly. I would not buy one today without physically holding and shooting it. I certainly wouldn’t want one that was not PVN modified especially for what they sell for now. Lots of people clam they shoot amazing my PVN modified one shot well and it points really nice with the single tube. But they are nothing earth shattering. I used my PVN MVP for a season even used it a West Point at lake Fredrick big game to stack body’s like cord wood. It shot well felt good in the hand and was accurate. I guess in the days of $1k+ CCM it’s up there with them but I certainly would not buy one that you can’t verify has been modified. I’m not sure if you can even get them modified anymore. Also there are ways to stop the valve bounce without addressing the rest of the issues I pointed out. So shooting videos isn’t the best way to tell. But it helps. I wouldn’t buy one unless I could physically shoot it, or it’s coming from someone I trust.
Personally it’s not even a marker I would consider owning again especially at the prices they are bringing. I’m glad I got to try a modified version of one. But after my experience with the first one I purchased. It just left a bad taste and gave me so much aggravation. I’m over them. That’s my personal take on the MVP. I’m sure people who payed a lot of money for them will say how great they are and the best marker they have ever shot. If it’s true they are shooting a modified one and they may not even know it.Comment

Paul did say what he did to his MVPs. He detailed everything in his thread titled “MVP V1.5” on that other forum. I bought the upgraded springs he uses because of the detail he gives in that thread.
“The 1NDL7 from Grainger is 6.59 lbs, about half of the stock blast guide spring. Used in combination with stock hammer and a stock ccm hammer spring, your reg is 3/8-1/2 from the bottom to achieve 280 FPS.”
Those springs plus his new heavier hammer core are the entire mod. He would also install the upgraded sear for you if you paid a little more. -
Interesting. Good to know if I get one cheap I can possibly fix it. The sear stoped the AT issue with the lug slipping?

Unicorn pricing but it's just a billy goat with a horn stapled to it's head. I'd get a nice CCM or wait and spend a little more to grab a gargoyle or something like that if it pops up.

They are pretty rare and I don’t see Blast coming out with a new one. They have been talking that talk for a while. Next year is the response for the past 5 years. The new design is a lot different as well so the older ones will retain its value. So collecting wise it will go up in value just look at the CCM’s and all they did was slow production of those you can still get those. I don’t think spending $1k on one is a bad investment. For me I put the MVP in the same category as the CCM J12. Over priced hyped up markers. Even the Gargoyle is over hyped people offer crazy money for them. Honestly you want a shooter get a nice Phantom at a 1/8th the cost. My Phantom gets better 12g efficiency them my Gargoyle. Gargoyle just looks Cool AF and has some nice features. -
great buys on phantoms and brass right now if you are looking for a shooter
MVPs pop fairly often lately. i would have different opinions about collectability/investment value on them if I did not see as many for sale in the past year. i like to play all my markers and an MVP would drive me nuts.
