    Unibody phantom

Longer body has spiral port barrel. Shorter body barrel does not. Back bottle set up with drop out. Does have a cool metal plug that I have not seen before.

I am not too familiar with these unibodies. Most current price was over a year ago.
what is the going price on these things.
    thanks

I sold a blue Ano one for $150 within the last year.

ASP will add detent mods to unibodies so if anyone is not stoked on a non-removable barrel, there is still that option. Which is what I would totally do.

For those interested, that's an original Smart Parts body.

Smart Parts first product was the spiral-ported barrel, but at the beginning, they didn't manufacture their own. They just bought barrels in bulk from the other manufacturers, drilled them, and resold them as "rifle ported" barrels. In the case of Phantoms, they bought unibody receivers from CCI, and drilled those. The closely-spaced holes shows it was an early example- as time went on, they opened the spacing of the holes (fewer and further apart) to speed production.

          Rough guess, I'd say that's from '89 or '90.

Doc, you are freaking awesome and wealth of knowledge. So since this is might be such a rare piece from SP. would it be better to keep it without the detents?

Awesome thanks guys. I will look into getting detents done once decision is made on both of these.

--Not really. There's no additional "collector" value there. The vast majority of markers these days only have value in use- there's only a comparative few specialty 'Cockers that have any true wall-hanger collector value.

No one really collects either Smart Parts or CCI "memorabilia", so the only real value in that marker is as a working, shootable gun. And to be perfectly honest, the holes degrade the performance- it's not so big a deal on a backbottle gun, but you'll lose significant shots per-cartridge on a 12-gram.

In this particular case, what I'd do is swap out the SP body for the undrilled one, having the latter modded for the detent rings. Leave the SP body as-is, as a curio.

I'd disagree with Doc on the collector value of the SP body. A few years ago I wouldn't have paid much attention to it but after talking to Mike Casady and hearing his story on how the SP bodies actually prompted him to make the removable barrel they are an important part of CCI history that are getting difficult to find in decent shape these days.
I do agree with Doc about modding the undrilled body for the ASP detents.
Great setup, I bought one very similar last year with the same SP drilling and Lever stock.
