    AKA Merlin Starburst Autococker

Feel bad letting this hang on the wall though it is pretty to look at. Finish looks slightly oxidized/age blemished and LPR has chrome flake but everything is straight

Looks like a VLM, not a merlin.
A shot of the front block screw will clear it up either way. Price differences between VLM and Merlin

thanks, I'm not super informed on cockers that I'd even know the difference and just went off that image about body styles - the front block has an aftermarket volumizer (ANS) which I assume means VLM?

      That is correct, a VLM.
I have seen a merlin with a volumizer before, but if it is not a custom volumizer then it is a 99 thread front block screw.

These are neat, I've always liked the simplicity of these designs.

It's a vlm, you can see the pre2k volumizer.

Starburst and Spiral were the only millings I liked (I am a fan of slab sided markers). Working I would say it would sell $700-$750 range, Starburst is seen a lot less then the other millings.

          • BODY: A low SN AK0030 - which checks out as the original owner was a "first guy to get everything" sort of collector, I also got one of the first dozen automags from him.... The body has minimal metal flaws, but the anodizing isn't anything to brag about. Thin, splotchy.
          • FRAME is an early Benchmark slider. I've never seen one wihout the "glide hole" behind trigger, but it's surely benchmark tho. Interestingly, black finish inside as if it was a black production run then manually polished out
          • GUTS include an AKA tornado and non-IVG dialer (Rex?)
          • PNEUS - nothing too crazy here, STO LPR and ram I think, and dye 3-way. The LPR has flaking. AKA appropriate welded straight 2-bar pump rod, shocktech period correct cocking rod
          • BOLT - shocktech pre2k delrin, the kind that have the segmented 2 delrin parts. Top shape, not shown

I'm willing to bet it's not a Benchmark frame but rather a Diamond Labs frame. Pic of Diamond Labs frame:
