I was helping my cousin dump some things he didn’t need this past weekend and happen to find this in a random box. I snagged it and decided to clean it. Seals were shot and it was dirty on the inside. It turned out pretty clean compared to when I found it, internals are still nice. Should I get a rebuild kit? I kinda want to just because but I know I’ll never use it. I know it’s an older model but what’s the valve of this in its current state?

$20, $30? Depends on if it's the uncommon high pressure output version, or just the much more common 0-250psi MaxFlo.

Thank you for the input. If I get bored I’ll replace the seals maybe trade it off as is/put it on Fleabay. It does make a good paper weight tho.

Wasn't someone just asking about externally adjustable tank regs? These maxflow units should allow that, right?

Well, I'm not finding the thread in search. So I looked at reddit to see if maybe I had read it there, and not finding anything, so unsure where I'm remembering that from.

I had a max flow on a PVI Shocker, and they were rock solid, but that was more than 25 years ago, with different equipment....

No worries. It’ll surface eventually here or somewhere else. I never used a Maxflow but I was told that this one is from the early 2ks.

Nope... it's the other end. The cap turns in to increase, out to decrease.

They're fantastic regs, just bulky. All orings inside, including the reg seat, so almost no proprietary parts. I run one on my Matrix.

If it's the HP version, I could see an Evo owner possibly being invested in it. Id be interested since I doubt I'll ever find one of them RJ Evo style CP regs.

It says "HIGH" on it. 🙂

The piston is much smaller on the HP versions as well... unscrew the cap off to see it. I'll post a comparison picture of my HP and LP versions tonight if I have a chance.

Got off work earlier than expected and took the cap off to view the piston. I also found a pic showing the differences between LP/HP pistons and believe it’s HP but correct me if I’m wrong🙂

I dug through my MaxFlo stash and found my HP Maxie and another like yours, marked 4500. Both have the HP piston, so it's likely yours is the HP version.

Here's my pictures... first one is the labeled HP version, second picture shows the difference between HP and LP pistons. There are a couple other differences, like springs, but piston diameter is the quickest/easiest way to check what you have.

Also, my reg doesn’t say “High” anywhere. My piston looks like the left in your second pic so I’m convinced it’s HP. I appreciate you taking the time to look through your stash, Jordan. Thank You 🤙
