I'm wondering the value on a potential purchase I'm going to make. I'm talking with the owner, and it seems like he's willing to negotiate. I'm comfortable working on markers, but I've never owned, rebuilt, or timed an Autococker before. I'm wondering what this one is worth, it is in need of a restoration currently. My goal would be to get into it for a price that if everything went wrong, I could sell it pretty easily or send it to the pros on here and not lose my ass. Also, if there's any particular reason this would be a terrible Autococker to work on (especially as a first) I'd appreciate that knowledge.

Does he have the reg bonnet piece for the Armageddon reg? Otherwise you can just swap it out for a normal asa. Looks like it has a inline reg on it. Unless it's just a gas thru grip. Probably just needs new seals and to be retimed. Not a impossible job. Especially for someone already comfortable working on other guns. Take a chance, it does look sweet.

the pneumatics are easy to fix if they leak
(seals + rebuilds) (or "upgrade" to modern parts)
if you cant hit decent velocity numbers, i always recommend the acp bottom tube kits. if the seller cam provide you a shooting video over a chrono, id factor that in (~$70)
id also recommended a freak bored barrel or send that one out. if its glued, most guys wont touch it
the only discouraging thing id say about nabbing that particular cocker, is that:
it would be significantly cheaper to build one piece by piece that will perform just as good, if not better
and probably cost about the same or more if you went ahead with milling and anno
putting together a cocker with "lower end" parts and slowly upgrading things over time makes you appreciate and learn each piece to its greater potential
but if you start out with the super cool gun, its tougher to imagine having it any other way!
(but it saves you the hassle of hoarding a mountain of parts you tried and moved on from😁)
definitely a good idea to get into cockers/snipers tho!
The combinations on parts is endless and every single one you try out is different.Comment

Thanks for always dropping some knowledge! I think I'll pass on this one based off what Ecap and a couple others told me. I don't want to haggle with the guy over something I know nothing about, and it seems like his asking price is on the high side of fair.
Given my interest in anodizing, I like that idea. I might start trying to snag cheap parts and odds and ends when they become available. No real rush to get one done!
